I light a candle in honor of the men and women who have fallen in America's wars.
You are the heroes that will always be a symbol of American courage.
Your footsteps on this earth may have been shortened but now they are imprinted in the minds and hearts of all of us forever.
Your footsteps are as one with our Lord who has carried you to heaven.

May we always remember the fallen as we walk the path of freedom
for they are the ones who shed their blood
so that we continue to be the land of the free and the home of the brave

You may not know us by name,
we are your neighbor, your husband or wife, your son or daughter.
We are the Marines, the Army, the Air Force, the Navy and the Coast Guard...
look for us when your freedom is threatened.

A SAILOR’S PRAYER

Oh, Lord, I’m sick and tired and old and my strength is going too,
But ere I leave this earthly shell, I’d like one thing from You.
You know I sailed the seven seas for thirty years or so,
And I’d like to make one more patrol before I have to go.

I’d like to walk the main deck of a Navy fightin’ ship,
And feel the salt spray on me as the bow begins to dip

A peril to seafaring men who go down in ships to sea.

Lord, I want to hear the throb of diesels one more time
And take my turn at standin’ watch and cleanin’ out the slime

And, Lord, I’d like to hear the bosun’s whistle once again
As he calls the crew to breakfast, or in the evening when
