I'm sorry that I am being such a pest, But it would be a sin of omission if I did not say that:
Stephen Brady cannot move to Albany, Cleveland, LA, Altoona or any other diocese to do the daily/weekly work that needs to be done. The only person available to do what needs to be done is YOU, not someone else, not the Pope, it is you, personally.
You are the only person that you can count on to do the hard work that needs to be done. I'm sorry but that is the way it is.
A fact of life AND a new avenue for spiritual growth. Thank God for the opportunity to be of service to Him. Answer His call to service!
If you respond, you will grow in Faith.
Stop observing from afar... Dear God how can i be of service to You. I pray, how can i live my Catholic Faith more fully? .. Do God's work. ..the work that cries out to Heaven to be done... Stated as simple as that. Dear God help us to have the courage to what it takes to do Your Will. ... Prayerful action.
God's work is not a spectator sport. Visitors do not come into your midst to provide entertainment or a moment of diversion. Respond to the call. Yes, you, dear reader, you.
Go out into the backyard, dig up that buried talent, dust it off, and start using it as God expects of you.
Just in case, if you are not now in the state of Grace, STOP, go to confession to a priest who loves Jesus and the Magisterium, truly. Go see the Passion again. Now you are ready to get started and be more effective in what you do.
Brady visited Phoenix once (the local parish pastor had a fit), we got names and phone numbers, and then we GOT STARTED in God's work. Prayer inspired action! It took a few years. It was worth it.
We love you Bishop Olmsted! Thank you for your leadership. Thank you for the Latin Mass. I lack adequate words of gratitude and truly do not yet appreciate just how much we have been blessed. We have yet to recover from the effects of the spiritual oppression of O'Brien. His followers are for a while still in place and power. That too shall pass, if it be the Will of God.
We are actively working on it, and it shall be accomplished, if it is Thy Will.
Lavender Mafia, be gone! REPENT, confess, go away.!
Yes, you need local help and encouragement, I know that I do. One good source of help is right here on FreeRepublic but not everybody who feels as you do are lurking or participating here.
Another source is everyone you come in contact with in your daily life, but if you don't like to talk about your faith to strangers then that method might not be very productive. You can work at that, God wants you to. That is where most people are. God loves strangers too as well as you. Always have some holy cards handy to give away. Also have a wholesome sense of humor, give it away too.
It seems hard to believe but you will find out quickly that regardless of your efforts that only a few people will respond.
Don't give up, Offer it up. You will come to realize that only your best spiritual friends will be available most of the time to go where you know that you must. Have courage, pray for the strength necessary to do what needs to be done.
You really need only one other person (as a witness) to get started, even though more is better. But these problems need to be fixed now to bring spiritual relief to your fellow Catholics and indeed everyone in your diocese.
Yes your efforts to get rid of a bad bishop will help everyone, Catholics and non-Catholics alike.
If only each Catholic would do and vote as a Catholic ought to, what a change that would make to your/my diocese and to the USA.
At this moment in time Mother Angelica is leading the rosary on EWTN. We love you Mother Angelica.
We pray for you, please pray for us, your family, we know you do.
In so far as possible, Pray Always, every minute.
Especially if you are retired or have lots of "spare" time.
Fr Dubay of EWTN has a good recommendation for the best use of "leisure" time.
In Albany when Stephen Brady visited and there were many people in the room, how many names and phone numbers did YOU get? Did you meet and start to develop new friendships in common service in the Lord's work?
Always have a pocket full of blank 3x5 cards, generic business cards is what they are. Make notes, exchange information.
The core group should have been established right then and there at the news conference.
If you missed the opportunity to form a group at that news conference, then find a reason to have another news conference, and use this page or a modification thereof as a handout. Select, copy, paste, edit, print.
Meet, pray the rosary together, practice singing, plan, make signs, make handouts, and go wherever the bad bishop goes.
Be at as many events as possible with your friends, signs, handouts, camera, and rosary.
On the public sidewalk move back and forth, sing aloud, pray aloud, and wave in a friendly manner to both the positive and the negative responses. Say God bless you to any passers by.
Why do people put up with bad bishops, priests, and religious? Beats me, are they scared? Do they pray enough?
What are they afraid of?
John Paul the Great tells us: BE NOT AFRAID. Hear him, please, hear him.
I am frustrated that you choose to remain merely frustrated. GRRR_;^)
Dear God, have Mercy on us all.
This information is currently unavailable from your local Diocesan Office:
Regarding dimensions:
Why 30" wide? That is one dimension of the 30"x40"x 3/16" thick foam board which is available at your favorite Office Supply store. Foam board is more durable than cardboard. They also have other sizes.
Why 18" high? That is the size of the widest piece of paper that the "Zoomer" copy machine will accept at Kinkos. You can use multiple pieces of paper to make taller signs.
Paper that you might call Astrobrite or its equivalent can be obtained at a local Art Supply store. It comes in a variety of colors. A common size is 28"x22". Kinkos will gladly slice the 22" dimension down to 18" (for the Zoomer). The 28" dimension can be extended with scrap pieces to fill out the color width to the 30" foam board width. Allow for an adequate color margin around the sign lettering.
A waterproof exterior grade glue (16oz plastic squeeze bottle) can be obtained at Home Depot. They also have 1"x2"x8' pieces of wood. Cut them in half. Use 1" long coarse drywall screws to attach the sign to the wood. Use an appropriate sized flat washer with each drywall screw to better (spread the pressure) grip the paper&foam board to the 1"x2".
Why 1" drywall screws? If you use anything longer it will stick through the other side. You don't want anything sharp to damage adjacent signs as you take them from place to place. And, being sharp, they hurt when you get stuck by one.
---
In the beginning, when you have an idea for a sign, type it in to your computer and lay it out to see how it looks. Bold letters can be seen best. Avoid a fancy font unless you need a special effect. Think about centering and spacing. Also consider using 2 spaces between words so that they might be easier to read from a distance.
Use as large a 'point' size as practical for the letters. Try size 36 or 48. Smaller size letters might be good for occasional use with transition words such as 'and'. Italics could be used for occasional emphasis, but like pepper it could be used too much.
A sign should use as few words as possible to clearly convey the message.
Print the pages and take these "masters" to a zerox machine that has 11"x17" paper. Zoom it up as large as possible on the 11"x17" paper. The zooming range will probably be between 200 and 350. Do not be satisfied with a machine that has "toner" problems. The lettering needs to be as dark and as crisp as possible. The output of this step is the next generation master, NGM.
Trim the NGM's left margin down to aprox 1/2". A small amount of margin on the left side will allow for the largest zoom-up in the next step.
Trim the top/bottom margins to be of equal width. Fold in half (just a little bit at the left end) to get a visual mid-point crease mark. Take the NGM to the Zoomer and set it on the glass such that the crease mark is at the 'centering arrow' of the Zoomer.
Use the 'low' cost plain white paper 18"x24" on the rack near the Zoomer to test the amount of zooming you want goin on. Your range will probably be between 150 and 180. You can use both sides of the white paper for test purposes.
After each test copy is made, lay the test page on your color paper to see how it will fit. If the test paper is not as wide (long) as the color paper then you will need to estimate if it will fit when you choose to use the color paper. Just because all the letters can't fit on the shorter test paper does not mean they won't fit on the longer color paper.
When you are satisfied then feed in the color paper for the final copy. Be sure to be at the output end of the Zoomer to lightly hold the (longer) color paper so it won't hangup in the output tray and cause a paper jam in the Zoomer.
If for some reason you don't like the result, make the zoom amount reselection, place the paper into the Zoomer feeder blank side up. No problem, the bad side of a 'redo' is going to have glue on it anyway.
I believe "over yonder" brevity of directions to be uncharitable.
Please distribute this post to sign makers in Albany, Cleveland, LA, and any other Diocese or Parish where orthodox Catholics have a problem to fix.
----------------
A clear plastic "paper holder" big enough for aprox fifty 8.5x11" pages is very handy to carry papers hands free. These are the same kind of holders used in manufacturing to contain and protect "Job Shop orders". With a paper punch, make a hole in a corner of the open end. Run about a 4 foot length of drapery rod cord through the hole. When you go protesting, tie the paper carrier to your waist with the cord so that its contents will always be handy. Your office supply store will have them.
Always have handy a single use camera to take a picture of anyone Approaching you as well as for "normal" picture purposes. It is better to have a picture that you might not need than to wish that you did have one when you do need proof/evidence. This is most important when you (have not) forgot to invite(d) a police officer to be with your group. A single use camera minimizes your loss if it gets broken, lost, or stolen.
If you want to interview some good employee prospects, just take a stack of employment applications and requests for resumes over to your local parish, best known for its love of the Gospel AND its loyality to the Magisterium, and distribute them ONLY at the DAILY Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
Do NOT distribute them at the weekend Masses.
We need USCCB/Diocesan/Parish employees who are first and foremost striving to be devout Catholics who go beyond the minimum that is expected of them.
Now, is that too much to ask?
"it doesn't even have fingers yet" This is a good reason to wear and have on hand some "precious feet" pins, they have toes and like the fingers at 10 weeks from conception, a tiny heart is pumping blood through them.
Get them at Heritage House 1-800-858-3040. Precious Feet and much more
Order a quantity so that you can have them on hand and available to offer to someone.
Quite often I just give the pin that I am wearing at the time.
Also, wait long enough to see them put it on.
Also have copies of "Baby Samuel" pictures showing a pre-born baby reaching from out of his mother's womb with tiny fingers grasping the baby finger of the surgeon's hand. Baby Samuel reaching out of the womb and Baby Samuel is Born
