Retired dilettante*: tired; retired; STILL tired.
A man who is poorer, but wiser still isn't wise enough; else, he wouldn't still be poor.
Ask me. Maybe I did; maybe I was; maybe I will...then again, maybe NOT.
I'm a 5th generation Non-Hispanic California Native. Not too many of us; even less of us still in CA...we wised up, and got prosperity...by leaving the Welfare State. Great place to be from; FAR from.
Spent 84-2003 in southern Oregon, but finally got Californicated out of there, too.
We bought our SD ranch in 1996. Coincidentally, it was originally homesteaded 100 years earlier, in 1896. That was 50 years (1846) after my progenitor [that means 'ancestor' for those in Rio Vista] & his wife arrived at his U.S. Army duty station, the Benecia Arsenal, Benicia, California Territory, where their daughter, my GGGrandmother was born, also in 1846. We split our time between the ranch & the Or-A-Gun home, until selling the Ore-Gone property in 2003.
That allowed full time ranch life here.
