One of my favorite things about living here in NM is enjoying the freedom of the open road and the awesome solitude found best in the high deserts and in the high peaks of the San Juan's mountains of SW Colorado while riding my '70 Harley FLH (below).

Yes, it gets off the paved roads and cruises the back country often, too! Favorite route... my on the pavement version of the Alpine Loop... from NW NM, to Durango CO, over Coal Bank and Molass passes to Silverton, over Red Mountain Pass to Ouray then down valley to Ridgeway and then W. and S. to Telluride, then S. over Lizard Head Pass to Rico and Dolores and Mancos to Hesprus then down the La Plata River valley back into NM.

That is THE LOOP! I am close enough to see them (the San Juans) on the horizon to the N. from my back yard here in NW NM
