Police, FBI, Hazmat crews, even the Secret Service were all called to a metro storage facility today because of what was inside.
The renter of the storage facility had not paid the bill in weeks. Police went inside and found boxes of money, possibly millions of dollars, covered with white powder.
The folks at Colonial Storage in Doraville, which runs "Store Your Stuff" on Longmire Way, say the renter of the unit, a man with an Middle Eastern sounding name, had fallen months behind on his rent. He owed $400. They couldn't contact him.
So they opened up the unit, and within minutes were calling police.
They found four large lockers, filled with what may be millions of dollars. The Secret Service took the cash away to determine if it is real.
The white powder apparently was nothing hazardous, but may have been left intentionally to throw off anyone who opened the lockers, officials said.
Police would like to find the renter, but his name, address and Social Security number are all phoney, police said.
Perhaps the renter of the unit died a few months back . . .
B O O !
Not sure--would you have been tempted by the money or by the powder?
The powder would have scared me off.
What a donation my tithe(10%) of that dusty find would be, eh?
Well, I'll keep looking.....
Just more honest than the typical person who says they would report it without a thought.
Well its not like its stealing. Obviously the so called owner was long gone and obtained the $$ by nefarious means himself. So it would be like doing everyone a favor including me! I mean the cops are just going to impound it and keep it for themselves anyway.
Leave a note for the deadbeat that says,...
"Due to charges owed and lack of payment, the owner of the rental property exercised their contract, entered this unit. The four lockers inside were taken to a local pawn shop and sold for one hundred dollars each.
This account is now paid in full, and nothing is owed.
You may find the lockers at the pawn shop called "Mohammed's Pawn Shop" in the central district, between the Pakistani Restraunt "Kashmir Palace" and the car wash "The Qu'ran Quicky".
We also paid $50 dollars to "72 Merry Maids" to clean up the contents due to white power covering them prior to sale, and "Abdullah's Moving" to transport them to the Pawn Shop.
If you have any questions, please see the new owner of these Rental Units.
The prior owner has moved to Tahiti."
Let me get this straight...they gave up millions of dollars because he couldn't pay $400 in back rent? OK, maybe the arab isn't around (or even alive) anymore, but you've got to love the irony on the face of this! I don't know who looks "less smart" here, the probable terrorist who left the cash or the guy who handed it over to the feds. Oh well, at the guy working at the storage place gets points for honesty. Can't knock him too hard for that, unless he kept some of it for expenses (hmmm, let's see...back rent, $400. lost future rent due to police investigation, about $200. Cleaning fee, let's estimate that at, oh about $500,000!).

I know! That's why I wonder if the renter is dead.
I'll follow up on this story and see what develops. They said that the powder was "nothing," or at least the hazmat guys didn't see any problems.
We all peer inside and can poke around a bit, then the contents go to the highest bidder, usually $25 to $200 depending on what is readily showing.
I wonder how the cops got involved?
Secret Service test: "Hey, let's go down to the Cadillac dealership and see if we can buy a car with this stuff!"
Remember the terrorists who attempted the 1993 destruction of the WTC were caught because they wanted the cash deposit on the Ryder truck bomb back!
