To those on the left and right who wonder why supporters of this war refuse to consider the "evil" or "unjust" US policies that are alleged to have brought September 11th about, the Editor has the following question: You are a young child. One night, your father, in a drunken rage, beats you severely enough to put you in the hospital. When you wake up, you see your mother sitting beside your bed. She looks at you and says, "I am very sorry for the horrible thing your father did to you. Nothing can excuse this terrible act. But you must understand that your father was beaten by his father when he was your age. People from abusive homes often grow up to become abusers themselves. So you really shouldn't be upset with your father, he couldn't help himself. It will be more constructive if you tried to understand what your father went through rather than get angry with him. It will help your father heal."
