The News International (Karachi) Friday edition has published a written statement from someone purported close to bin Laden, claiming - "These educated and committed Arabs know about biology, chemistry and nuclear sciences and are ready to make use of their knowledge to defend Muslims all over the world". The newspaper also claims bin Laden has departed Afghanistan, perhaps for Chechnya or Lebanon.

Drudge just added this
Osama bin Laden was in contact with Iraqi government agents from his base in Afghanistan in the days leading up to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, according to U.S. intelligence officials... Bin Laden's contacts with the Iraqi government were detected before the attacks, said officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity...

I would not put it past Ghadafi to hide Osama in one of those new estates in Zimbabwe that Moammar purchased from Mugabe recently.

Another interesting link from Drudge is to the Telegraph:
Anarchy as Taliban lose control By Ahmed Rashid (Filed: 21/09/2001)
LAW and order was breaking down in Kabul yesterday as Taliban soldiers and poverty-stricken civilians carried out armed daylight robberies and looted houses left empty by people who have fled.
In many areas of the Afghan capital, discipline among the Taliban appeared to be collapsing ahead of an expected American assault.
"Armed men are entering people's homes under the guise of checking to see if they have arms, are watching a film or listening to music [both banned activities]," said one resident.
"The owner of the house lets them in because he has nothing to hide. Then he and the male family members are rounded up and the women are forced to hand over cash or jewellery."
Another complained: "I have lost everything." Crime was almost stamped out in Kabul after the Taliban seized it in 1996. They cut the limbs off thieves or hanged them from lamp posts.
Bringing law and order back to an anarchic country was one of the main reasons for the Taliban's early popularity. The breakdown of law and order demonstrates the rapid collapse of the militia's hierarchy.
It appears that soldiers are no longer obeying their officers.

The Talibs all wear large clean white or black turbans. This is their uniform, and it will make our snipers' jobs much easier.
If the Talibans hide, or take off their turbans, they will show the people they are afraid and lose respect and authority and control.
If they keep their turbans on, they will lose their lives to snipers they will never see.
Either way, they are screwed.
PS: Just ask the British SAS how easy it is to operate close to the wogs "in mufti". The robes and turbans and face coverings allow even Europeans to slip easily among the targets. To get within 1500 yards will be no problem for the SAS and Delta.
