As it was at most U.S. airports, last Saturday was the first near-normal day at Denver International since the terrorist attacks. On United's Flight 564 the door had just been locked and the plane was about to pull out of the gate when the captain came on the public address system.

I asked what kinda plans he had if some jerk *ff tried any mischief on his aircraft to that he replied, " A snap roll in 737 should take care of 'em"
I heard a pilot on one of the newscasts late last week tell of his plans. Immediate depressurization of the cabin, then "everyone better have their seatbelts on cause we are going for one hell of a roller coaster ride!"
[Some people still think guns are the only deadly weapons...(sigh)]
Stab them with your ink pens! The sheer number of non-terrorists to terrorists on board should allow the good guys to just pile on the bad guys literally then crush them in the aisles.
Spot-on, john! All Commercial pilots know how to do it, and that has been the 'underground' message to all of them.
Most people don't realize that all Commercial Jets can easily perform aerobatic maneuvers, albeit in slow-motion. Anybody not belted-in tends to get scrambled!
They don't do it often because it tends to beat-the-hell out of the cabin attendants....FRegards
Those pilots have it right.
Now I am certain that we will have a number of bleeding hearts who will object but this is a start.

Having federal government take over airport security does absolutely nothing to ease my concerns. In fact, it heightens them. We'll end up with another bloated bureacracy, airport security manuals the thickness of the tax code and the all incompetence and ineffectiveness the federal government is famous for. An exception to this might be if the military is given the authority over this matter--but even then, apply the bloated bureacracy item.
If we need more law enforcement personnel involved in airport security, I'd rather it be local or state police forces.
I don't want to see knee jerk reactions and laws enacted which further restrict our freedoms but would have done nothing to stop the recent attacks. The only possible security measure that might have stopped these evil men would have been an armed sky marshall or an armed pilot or flight steward. More rigorous FBI and CIA intelligence might have stopped it in the first place, but as is being discovered, these men knew all the tricks in hiding and assimilating so I don't blame the FBI and CIA.
"Whoever would sacrifice freedom for the sake of security, will end up having neither."

I like it . I was thinking along the lines of a bowling ball.
