Many emails have been sent from around the world of condolence and sympathy for the tragic actions of yesterday here in the United States. One fan forwarded this verse which is so appropriate in light of everything that has taken place:
"The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face towards you and give you peace' (The book of Numbers chapter 6, and verses 24-26).Such appropriate words in such a time of peril.
Yesterday, all across the country and possibly the world, prayer vigils were held to help share in the terrible pain and there has been a national call from our government for prayer and support in these dark times. In times like these it puts everything in perspective, including our passion for something as trivial as Star Wars.
Just as President Bush offered Scripture and prayers for our country, and as the Senators and Congressmen sang "God Bless America," this prayer seemed fitting and proper as well:
Lord,Again we want to encourage everyone to help in any way that you can including giving blood and offering prayers of your own whatever faith you may or may not be. There's some interesting and spontaneous things happening in our forums as well, if you would like to share in a moment of silence please do so.The tragedy stiking the very fabric of our society this morning and the loss of life came as a surprise to me. But not you, dear Father.
You are the God who knows all and, knowing that we your children are but dust and that this evil has shaken us deeply, can with the reality of Your gentle presence settle the dust swirling around us.
May Your great and loving hand encompass those who have lost loved ones this morning. For the thousands injured we pray the God Who heals to touch lives and bodies. For the millions in shock and disbelief, comfort and still the heart and cause us to turn to you. For the world that wonders what course of action will be taken, may our leaders have the strength of character and wisdom to act.
May retribution as well come from the fiery swift sword You hold in judgment over evil. But Lord, as heinous as this crime against innocents is, such is typical of the human condition. May the REAL seat of the problem, our rebellious wills and depraved minds, be touched by Your holy Spirit and granted repentance and faith.
As the litany of horror unfolds around us, might it drive us to our knees - not in despair, but in hope; not in defeat, but in prayer; not is dicouragement, but in reverent awe kneeling before a great and mighty God.
May our faith in Jesus Christ be unshaken in this evil world we pray,
Amen.

We have staff in New York City: thank the good Lord, they are all safe. The past 36 hours we were on pins and needles waiting for everyone to report in. One member of our TFN Digital crew was right at the World Trade Center, saw the first crash and took cover in a nearby subway. We had dinner with this crewmember and 3 others not two weeks ago. To understand that they...
...no, no... it's too big, still too big.
Guys, please, find your loved ones tonight and hug them just one more time. Let them know how much you love them. Life is short, we're living on borrowed time here, and it's not right to waste a moment sharing it with the ones endeared to our hearts the most.

Not so good. Had a brief scare on the morning of the attack. My mother works only a few blocks away from the WTC. She left home for work as usual (indeed, she often takes the subway that takes her directly to WTC), then I heard about the attack, and I tried to call her workplace but there was no answer. I didn't hear from her untill late that afternoon. As it turned out, she didn't get to Manhattan untill minutes AFTER the attack. The clouds of dust were still in the air. Her workplace had been closed down and evacuated, the streets were blocked off, the subways were temporarily closed, etc. It was total chaos. Making it hard for her to get anywhere or make contact with anyone.
She eventually made her way north to the upper east side of NY where my Uncle lives.
My relief at hearing that she was alright was short lived as I tried to check in on my fellow NY FReepers. Some are not responding and have not posted anything since before the attack. I have a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach and I am near tears.
And for all our friends. Please let them come through, Lord.
