Darn the market rally fizzled!

UG - I failed to tape the Shelby Foote program, despite Dog's heads up.

Have read the Cahill Irish book and liked it very much, but not the other one.

Bit - I'm sure that Pickett had lingering ill will for the South's favorite son.

Some historians speculate that since Lee died several years after the end of the War from heart disease, he may have been suffering from it during the war years as well.

He seemed to have been ill in the spring of '63, and on the eve of Gettysburg, had another episode which may have impaired his abilities to conduct the battle...

If my memory is right and someone correct me if I am wrong....

Pickett never forgave Lee for the charge and the loss of his Division..

Pickett blamed Lee and never spoke to him again..

You're right, Dog, about Pickett, and of course most everyone else in the South needed a hero, and even the North came to revere Lee, so Pickett's was a lone, critical voice, (except for Longstreet!).

I'm inclined to think Lee's judgment was impaired that day in July....
