Mission Statement and Purpose

Veterans for Constitution Restoration (VetsCoR) is a non-profit, non-partisan educational and grassroots activist organization. The primary area of concern to all VetsCoR members is that our national and local educational systems fall short in teaching students and all American citizens the history and underlying principles on which our Constitutional republic-based system of self-government was founded. VetsCoR members are also very concerned that the Federal government long ago over-stepped its limited authority as clearly specified in the United States Constitution, as well as the Founding Fathers' supporting letters, essays, and other public documents.

"Every child in America should be acquainted with his own country. He should read books that furnish him with ideas that will be useful to him in life and practice. As soon as he opens his lips, he should rehearse the history of his own country."
-- Noah Webster, On the Education of Youth in America, 1788

The Bill of Rights has been and continues to be so abused by our lawmakers and politicians it would be unrecognizable to the Founding Fathers. We believe that we are wrongfully subjected to too many unnecessary laws and regulations and that many of them are in direct conflict with the intent of the Constitution. These need to be withdrawn from the books and the Federal government put back in its box as John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and George Washington so rightly believed it should stay.

The Constitution and Bill of Rights were not written to restrict the citizens of America; they were written to restrict the government and protect our inherent rights. We do not believe the specific rules nor intent of our Founders are being properly observed by the Congress, the Presidency, nor even the Supreme Court.

As veterans and current military, we have taken oaths to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. At times, our own politicians, legislators, and bureaucrats are working at odds with the principles our Constitution is based upon; at times they work in direct conflict with specific wording. These are principles and words that so many have sacrificed for in sweat and blood.

It is our mission at VetsCoR to unite our military brethern to educate all Americans about the history, form, purpose, and scope of the Constitution, and thereby honor our oaths by engaging a common domestic enemy - bloated, intrusive, unaccountable and often unconstitutional government.

The success and progress of any country can easily be judged by the size of its government. America's success and progress is declining rapidly. The natural progress of things is for liberty to yield and government to gain ground."
-- Thomas Jefferson, letter to E. Carrington, May 27, 1788

"A wise and frugal government...shall restrain men from injuring one another, shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government."

-- Thomas Jefferson, First Inaugural Address, March 4, 1801

I have never been an activist ( beyond voting every election since '72) but this has peaked my interest...

I'm a Silicon Valley Located (X-)Marine who would like to know what I can do to help rollback years of waste, fraud, greed, graft, corruption, constitutional abuse, and help to restore the Republic, and all that used to be So Good about America
