WASHINGTON -- A deal collapsed Wednesday to include multiple Department of Veterans Affairs reforms in a spending bill that Congress formulated to prevent a government shutdown.

Earlier this week, the bill was set to contain a measure to overhaul the VA Choice program, which veterans use to access private-sector medical care. A deal reached between key House and Senate lawmakers on VA oversight also included an expansion of benefits for veteran caregivers, as well as a plan to initiate a systematic review of VA infrastructure, with the intention of disposing of aging and underused facilities nationwide.

I was sad to see this was dropped from the 2,200+ page bill.

Sure, screw the Vets, fund murdering more infants in the womb and deny funding for the wall.

The DC UniParty needs serious trimming in November!

Sometimes I wonder what the point is of the Republican Party. They behave little differently whether in power or out of power. For all intends and purposes, this is a Democrat Party spending bill.

@#$%^&!

As a Vet who has excellent heath care through her VA, this annoys the heck outta me!

Even though we have 20 or so hospitals and clinics for Vets, we have so many vets that live far away from care, or those that have a hard time getting transportation when needed.

I’ll be calling Senator Ron Johnson, today! Jerks!

Really? How hard IS it to set priorities? Not taking care of your Wounded Warriors needs to be on TOP of everyone’s list! Grrrr!

(And I have no health issues to date; I’m on no meds, no physical ailments. I’m not worried about myself; I am worried about my fellow service members who are worse off than I am.)

-- Sometimes I wonder what the point is of the Republican Party. --

Psyops against the people, create and maintain an illusion that there is real opposition to an overbearing federal government and gradual ceding of power to transnational forces.

Our political system is like pro-wrestling. The opponents in the ring are the political parties. The house (transnational forces) is actually in charge, and needs to put on a good show in order to maintain the fiction that free elections inevitably result in public control of the government.

When the party promising to take control from the house attains power, it fails on purpose so that it will be voted back to the inferior/weak/minority position.

The function of authorized dissent is to keep the public from getting too uppity. The tough talk and venting is a form of pressure relief. The "rein in the government" promises are meant to be broken. They are made in bad faith in the first place.

What are you going to do, vote for the Democrat?

There are only two ways Washington will ever be reformed.
The 1st is if it is nuked from orbit.
The 2nd is if it is nuked from orbit.

This is why they will lose the house in November, which they will then blame on Trump.

This is totally unacceptable. It's time for President Trump to pick up the veto pen and send these @$$clowns back to work.

The Dems don’t spend money like this. We need to increase the military, but do we need to throw money at it? Schumer/Pelosi are stunned how much they got and will run on Trillion dollar deficits in Nov.

I frequent my local VA and have recently been somewhat “forced” to seek private health care providers (with VA approval) since the VA has downsized the doctors who previously provided the various services I needed. Since there were/are no doctors at the VA for those services, a specific time limit was set to insure I got the treatments in a reasonable time frame. The VA does/did pay for that private care provider.

I am tired of Democrats running the wheels in DC.

We did not vote for this crap.

Go to WH.gov and tell President Trump that we will not stand for this betrayal.

This bill is over 2330 pages and is supposed to be voted on today when only 4 traitors know what is in it.

Forget the wall, this is a fence, more money for drug war than wall
funding for PP
funding for sanctuary cities
funding for obamacare when we were promised repeal
etc, all crap

I am so disgusted and if Trump signs this it will make a liar out of him.

And RATs and RINOs want that. A 1.3 trillion dollar betrayal.

Expanding the caregiver funding to include pre- 9/11 veterans was something I was in DC this month to advocate for.

While the bean counters only see the cost, they do not take into account the savings of having an in-home caregiver ($19,000.00 per year) to a State Home ($50,000.00) to a nursing home ($200,000.00 or more). Not even taking into account the improved quality of life.

Yes sir, that is exactly what they intend to do. They will make ads saying “Trump signed it”. And if he does he can expect a miserable term ahead because he will have lost a lot of support.

We did not vote for the swamp to win.

Griffin Anderson, a spokesman for Democrats on the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs, said they were against a measure to expand caregiver benefits because it didn't provide a clear way to fund those changes.

The only time the Democrats care if something is funded is when they are not the majority party. Unfortunately the same is true with the Republicans.
