Anyone that I know who was actually in Vietnam doesn't talk about it. I suspect the same will be true for Iraq and Afghanistan. My uncle will not give more than a brief yes or no when asked about Vietnam. I literally had to corner him one time and say, "Look, I really need to put this info into my genealogy files. Can you just tell me what company you were in and where you went through basic? Maybe some dates?"

I have another uncle who died several years ago who served in the Pacific during WWII. I did not learn until I read his obituary that he was on the tarmac and witnessed the Enola Gay take off for Hiroshima.
