There had also been an eye-opening moment on the streets of Cleveland during the Republican National Convention, when [Johnson and I had] been walking behind a cigarette-wielding Ohioan. As the smokers exhaust wafted in our faces, I remarked offhand thatwith the advent of e-cigarettesI thought there was a good libertarian case for banning regular cigarettes. I do too, replied the health-obsessed triathlete, recounting his support for anti-smoking efforts in New Mexico.

It’s all BS reinforced by naked sophistry
Then party has gone to hell since I left LOL
Tax the snot out of them
..........................
You go square to hell squirreI.
Right, like you said it was your own dam fault,. But you still
wished they had been banned to protect you from your self.
I have smoked at least 68 of my 81 years and I still happen to
enjoy it.
I know of very few people who smokes or not that don’t have
heart trouble at my age.
OR COPD! My husband was a smoker for 40 yrs, and is 24/7 on Oxygen, and other cigarette illnesses include RA, Crohns, and Prostate issues....all of which he also has. His last 10 years have been miserable, and he is confined to home 95% of the time, except for doctor appointments. I, too, have been confined to home at times, and I did NOT smoke!
I have no resentment to taking care of my husband as he is good man, caring, kind, and grateful. It does however show that ‘choices have consequences’. I am reminded of that COMMERCIAL AD on TV about guy whose addiction drug him across the floor, outside, to smoke! So true! I would never eant anything to have that kind of control over me, or my behavior. I wish you well, and it is never to late to quit!
My point is this, there is NOTHING GOOD about smoking, it is worse than a drug addiction. However worse is the cost of drugs with terrible side effects, and the example it sets is children/grandchildren are learning a bad habit.
Do I want cigarettes banned? Fine, but, I do not believe government can control morality/religion or other habits like drugs/alcohol/perversions...people will do whatever they can to damage themselves! It is a spiritual issue!
All those things are Sad, but that is my take on it!
Good point but it is said that people are living longer in this age than ever before, and it is just a coincidence that
the people who are living so long today are the ones who grew up and lived much of their life in a town with smoke stacks and most of the ones i know also spent much of their time by wood or coal stoves or camp fires, not to mention smoke filled bar rooms.
I have smoked for about 67 years and i have problems but i know many people who has never smoked a cigarette in their life has more problems than i do.
All of my young day friends are gone, smokers and non smokers so i don`t think i will quit doing what i like to do
just to satisfy this new age thinking.
you wrote: My point is this, there is NOTHING GOOD about smoking, it is worse than a drug addiction........
Yes that is the new age way of thinking and that is why they are so screwed up that boys don`t know the difference between boys and girls and don`t know if they are supposed to be boys or girls.
Like the guy said:
I cut out drinking, i cut out smoking, i cut out women and now i am cutting out paper dolls.
So true! I would never eant anything to have that kind of control over me,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I do not care about drinking much so it is easy for me to say that about drinking, boy talk about will power...
True, most people would not let any thing have control over them if it was something they did not want to do in the first place.
Every one wants to go to heaven but no one wants to die, if there is nothing wrong with you what are you going to die of?
However worse is the cost of drugs with terrible side effects, and the example it sets is children/grandchildren are learning a bad habit...................................
You call it a bad habit, when Jesus drink with the sinners the gooood people no doubt called that a bad habit, but if they had cigars i would bet a dollar to a hole in a doughnut that Jesus would have a cigar or a cigarette also.
I know you and your husband must have it rough and i really feel depressed on your behalf, but all you can do is hang in there and keep in touch with God because he is where this is all leading.
God bless you.
My husband knows that smoking for 40 yrs brought him MISERY, in form of COPD, CROHNS, RHEUMETOID ARTHRITIS, among other issues. He finally quit in 2014/ too late for his body to restore itself, but DR warned him for a decade before it happened. He has been on OXYGEN, since 2012.
So we hang in there, live one day at a time, and make the best of our lives. We are both Christians, and I have close prayer relationship with God... Thank you, and God Bless!
It is contradictions such as this that has kept me from taking the libertarian party serious, plus the ones i personally know
are just as self righteous as the liberals.
I guess there was also a good case for killing Jews as far as Hitler was concerned.
