From Ephesians 6: The Whole Armor of God

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. ........................................................

Dear Father God, take every evil deed done throughout the world's history and use it for Your Glory! We confess many sins against You, and yet You forgive us over and over. We repent! We beg for revival throughout the world in this time of the end. Come soon Lord Jesus, and put an end to all this wickedness!

Once again Lord we come before You to beg for Your mercy and grace in this time of the end. We look at the disaster all around us and sense time on this Earth has grown short. We ask that You put an end very soon to all the evil exploding around the world. It is hard to take the satanic hubris pushed into our faces daily. The past few years have exponentially imploded into death and destruction of our own making.

We ask for Your return to our public square. Protect us against our enemies, and for America’s return to You as Lord God. We cry out against the destruction of our Christian heritage by those who hate You, those attempts to replace You with idols of drag queens and other error. We rebuke in the Name of Jesus the cultural Marxism metastizing over our country.

We cry out to You against the destruction of the innocent through abortion. We cry out to You against the corruption of the innocent through child porn, trafficking, sex confusion.

Open our eyes to the filth that passes as entertainment and other forms of evil indoctrination. Smash to bits our group think where we are beginning to believe that oppression, abortion and homosexuality are normal.

We cry out to You against the destruction of family and marriage, which you created for us in this world.

We cry out against the rise of technology used for idolatry and evil purposes.

We cry out against the rise of Satanism and other false religions, such as Satanic displays competing with nativities and Satan after school clubs for children. We rebuke in the Name of Jesus the rise of neo-paganism as the “new world religion.”

We cry out against all forms of evil mandates to sin, such as the “right” to “transgenderism” and abortion.

We ask for your protection of Israel against her enemies, and for her return to You as Lord God. We ask for conversion of those Palestinians rallying violently against You and Your people in public. Heal their hatred and fill them with Your Holy Spirit.

We cry out against the spiritual ignorance and spiritual famine so widespread today.

We pray for our enemies, Abba Father, for the ones who would be saved to be delivered now. Bless them with consequences the they may see the futility of life without You. In addition, we pray for our loved ones who don’t know You yet, that they may be delivered soon as well.

Maranatha! Lord come soon and rescue us!

Thank you LTOS! Good to see you posting. I hope you are feeling better. Happy New Year!

Father I know that the real enemies that I face are spiritual principalities and powers and mighty spiritual wickedness in high places. and I know that the people who rise up against me are simply the tools that are being used against me by these spiritual beings. who seek to shipwreck my faith and cause me to lose heart and doubt Your Word, but in the mighty name of Jesus I pray that their strongholds may be smashed, and that I may be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might, as I face every enemy onslaught.

Thank You for the spiritual armor that is mine in Christ and I pray that every moment of the day I may be covered in His great protection that You have provided for all who have trusted in Christ as Saviour. Thank You for the breastplate of righteousness and the shoes of peace. the helmet of salvation and the belt of truth. Thank You that in Christ I have all that I need to stand firm against the schemes of the devil and the forces of evil. Thank You for the shield of faith which is able to extinguish all the fiery darts of the enemy. and how I praise You that my main weapon of attack is the Word of God, which stands fast for ever and ever.

In the name of Jesus may I stand firm through prayer and praise in the evil day and be alert with all perseverance, and having done all may I still stand firm in Christ Who has won the victory over every spiritual force and every evil enemy. Thank You Father in Jesus name,

Amen

Prayer At the Beginning of a New Year

Thank You, Lord, for the beginning of a new year and as we step out into the unknown future, we pray that You would be with us, leading and guiding us, teaching and drawing us ever closer to each other and to Yourself. Thank You that Your steadfast love never ceases and that Your mercies are new every morning, great is Your faithfulness, O Lord.

Father, we know that these times in which we live are becoming fraught with difficulties and increasingly stressful, and yet Father our hope is in You, for You are our faithful God Who has promised to never leave us nor forsake us. Father, as we step onto the threshold of a new year, with its inevitable problems and pain, I place my hand into Yours Lord, and trust You to lead me along the right way that I should go, for I know Father that there is no safer place to be than walking in fellowship with You.

As we step out into the unknown future, I offer my life a living sacrifice to You. May I be used for Your praise and glory. In Jesus’ name I pray,

Amen.

Ah yes! Thank you metmom!

Excerpt from https://www.gotquestions.org/Bible-boldness.html ...

Proverbs 28:1 says, “The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.” The righteous are bold because they know that God is for them and what they have to say is important (Hebrews 13:6). When the apostle Paul was in prison, he wrote to the churches asking for prayer that he be bold in continuing to proclaim the gospel (Ephesians 6:19). Godly boldness is motivated by passion for Christ and His truth. It is rarely self-centered because it requires us to set aside our natural desire for comfort and popularity. For Paul to speak boldly would most likely mean more persecution. Stephen spoke boldly and became the first Christian martyr (Acts 6:8–10, 7:1–2, 54–58).

As followers of Christ, we should pray as Paul did that the Lord will grant us supernatural boldness to speak and live as He would have us do. In this age of great deception and resistance to truth, we need boldness more than ever. Boldness, coupled with love and humility (1 Corinthians 13:4–8; 1 Peter 5:6), is like a light in the darkness (Matthew 5:14). When we are convinced that our message is life-giving and eternal, we can speak with boldness, knowing that God will use it to impact our world (Isaiah 55:10–11).

Amen. Yes, Lord. Maranatha!

https://www.gotquestions.org/maranatha.html

Maranatha is an Aramaic word that means “the Lord is coming” or “come, O Lord.” The early church faced much persecution, and life for a Christian under Roman rule was not easy. The Romans required everyone to declare that Caesar was god. The early Christians knew that there is only one God and one Lord—Jesus Christ—and in all good conscience they could not call Caesar “Lord,” so the Romans looked upon them as traitors, persecuted them, and put them to death.

Living under those adverse conditions, the believers’ morale was lifted by the hope of the coming of the Lord. “Maranatha!” became the common greeting of the oppressed believers, replacing the Jewish greeting shalom (“peace”). The followers of Jesus knew there would be no peace because Jesus had told them so (Matthew 10:34; Luke 12:51). But they also knew the Lord would be returning to set up His kingdom, and from that truth they drew great comfort. They were constantly reminding and being reminded that the Lord is coming (Luke 21:28; Revelation 22:12). Jesus taught several parables on this same theme of watching and waiting and being prepared for His return (Matthew 25:1-13; Luke 12:35-40).

Today, believers in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ live our lives in the light of the knowledge that He can come at any time. We are to be ready when the call comes. Every day we should expect Him to come, and every day we should long for Him to come. Maranatha reminds us to keep our eyes on the eternal things of the Spirit. To dwell on material things is to be in constant mental turmoil. Looking down, we see the earth; looking around, we see earthly things. But looking up, we see the hope of the soon coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. To those who are discouraged today, Maranatha! To those who are worried today, Maranatha! To those who are filled with anxiety over the problems they are facing, Maranatha! Our Lord is coming!

Thank you, Jeanbl! God bless you this new year. We are closer to His return than ever before.

Matthew 5:1-12 NKJV
The Beatitudes

5 And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. 2 Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying:

3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
For they shall be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek,
For they shall inherit the [a]earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
For they shall be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
For they shall obtain mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
For they shall see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
For they shall be called sons of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake,
For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

This has good discussion on the meaning of each Beatitude and more, which helps with the study of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount and how it a applies today. So needed in America and around the world.

Thank you, Kalam! Happy blessed new year!

What sort of New Year’s resolution should a Christian make?

The practice of making New Year’s resolutions goes back over 3,000 years to the ancient Babylonians. There is just something about the start of a new year that gives us the feeling of a fresh start and a new beginning. In reality, there is no difference between December 31 and January 1. Nothing mystical occurs at midnight on December 31. The Bible does not speak for or against the concept of New Year’s resolutions. However, if a Christian determines to make a New Year’s resolution, what kind of resolution should he or she make?

Common New Year’s resolutions are commitments to quit smoking, to stop drinking, to manage money more wisely, and to spend more time with family. By far, the most common New Year’s resolution is to lose weight, in conjunction with exercising more and eating more healthily. These are all good goals to set. However, 1 Timothy 4:8 instructs us to keep exercise in perspective: “For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.” The vast majority of New Year’s resolutions, even among Christians, are in relation to physical things. This should not be.

Many Christians make New Year’s resolutions to pray more, to read the Bible every day, and to attend church more regularly. These are fantastic goals. However, these New Year’s resolutions fail just as often as the non-spiritual resolutions, because there is no power in a New Year’s resolution. Resolving to start or stop doing a certain activity has no value unless you have the proper motivation for stopping or starting that activity. For example, why do you want to read the Bible every day? Is it to honor God and grow spiritually, or is it because you have just heard that it is a good thing to do? Why do you want to lose weight? Is it to honor God with your body, or is it for vanity, to honor yourself?

Philippians 4:13 tells us, “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.” John 15:5 declares, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” If God is the center of your New Year’s resolution, it has chance for success, depending on your commitment to it. If it is God’s will for something to be fulfilled, He will enable you to fulfill it. If a resolution is not God-honoring and/or is not in agreement with God’s Word, we will not receive God’s help in fulfilling the resolution.

So, what sort of New Year’s resolution should a Christian make? Here are some suggestions:
(1) pray to the Lord for wisdom (James 1:5) regarding what resolutions, if any, He would have you make;
(2) pray for wisdom as to how to fulfill the goals God gives you;
(3) rely on God’s strength to help you;
(4) find an accountability partner who will help you and encourage you;
(5) don’t become discouraged with occasional failures; instead, allow them to motivate you further;
(6) don’t become proud or vain, but give God the glory. Psalm 37:5-6 says, “Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.”
