Patriarch Bartholomew, Pope Francis, Anglican Archbishop Issue Joint Environmental Message

In honor of the month of September, “celebrated by many Christians as the Season of Creation, an opportunity to pray and care for God’s creation,” Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, Pope Francis, and Archbishop Justin of Canterbury of the Anglican church issued a “Joint Message for the Protection of Creation.”

Pat. Bartholomew and his colleagues write that the Christian Tradition calls us to be stewards of creation, “but we have taken the opposite direction.” But now “we have an opportunity to repent, to turn around in resolve, to head in the opposite direction. Wes must pursue generosity and fairness in the ways that we live, work and use money, instead of selfish gain.”

The three emphasize that this is the first time they have issued a message together about “the urgency of environmental sustainability.”

“Caring for God’s creation is a spiritual commission requiring a response of commitment. This is a critical moment. Our children’s future and the future of our common home depend on it,” the message concludes.

Read the full text of the joint message:

For more than a year, we have all experienced the devastating effects of a global pandemic—all of us, whether poor or wealthy, weak or strong. Some were more protected or vulnerable than others, but the rapidly-spreading infection meant that we have depended on each other in our efforts to stay safe. We realised that, in facing this worldwide calamity, no one is safe until everyone is safe, that our actions really do affect one another, and that what we do today affects what happens tomorrow.

These are not new lessons, but we have had to face them anew. May we not waste this moment. We must decide what kind of world we want to leave to future generations. God mandates: ‘Choose life......

September is traditionally the month of the Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Mother.

Now it’s the month of Bergoglio’s Pachamama.

Dribble one would expect from cheap bought-and-sold-out leftist politicians. Besides, almost everyone wants conservation and clean water

and, just as with covid, the “special ones” - including the Vatican - will feel entitled to exemptions:

6 Sept: Bloomberg: Europe Wants to Ban Combustion Engines. Italy Says ‘Not So Fast’
France has also shown signs of resistance to the new plan, advocating for more lenient targets.
By Chiara Albanese, Daniele Lepido and Alberto Brambilla
As Europe prepares to ban combustion engines, Italy, home of high-powered, high-testosterone sports cars made by Ferrari NV and Lamborghini SpA, is already looking for ways around the proposed restrictions.

Mario Draghi’s government is in talks with the European Union on shielding supercar makers from the phase-out, planned to go into effect by 2035, according to Roberto Cingolani, minister for ecological transition...

The Commission announced the phase-out plan in July as part of the region’s effort to cut emissions that contribute to global warming. But the timeline could be challenging for luxury producers that make cars whose powerful engines emit above-average levels of pollution...

The process is likely to take as long as two years, with some countries likely to propose amendments to protect their companies and industries...

France has already shown signs of resistance to the new plan, advocating for more lenient targets...

Italy’s attempt to shield its iconic carmakers doesn’t mean the country opposes the move toward electrification. “This is a global policy problem,” Cingolani said. “There is a clear awareness about the need for a transition toward electric mobility. “...

Exactly right, and what does scripture actually say about the future of this world? It says it’s going to be like a used up garment, to be destroyed and replaced by a new earth.

Now these folks are supposedly Christians who believe in scripture, right? Where is the scriptural mandate for environmental sustainability? I’m not saying we should abuse the planet, but saving souls is far, far more important than the social justice, green theology pushed by these so-called leaders for Christ. This earth is slated for destruction.

Hey, Pope. Focus on the permanent, not the temporary!

Well, imho we are here as gardeners, tenders, conservators and where possible improvers of the world He has given us. I could dredge up some verses but you probably know them and I’m away from books. Point being though that we just don’t need silly statements from these three clerics about things that are obvious to at least most of us. Any sentient being knows not to crap in the stew pot, after all.
Gotta share a comment from my Neighbor with you. To wit, it’s actually far better these three stooges tack about recycling soda pop tins then to let them pontificate about religion. Since at least two of them screw up so much when they attempt to provide any inspiring faith leadership.
Just a thought.
Reminds me of my Father who almost never talked about politics but after 13 months of 24/7 media coverage about Monica and The Billy Goat, my Dad finally threw his boob tube out, saying that it was far better for America so long as Billy Was screwing around with Monica instead of screwing around any more with the country.
Just a thought. Smiles to you

About 98% of Orthodox Christians don’t care what the Patriarch of Constantinople has to say about anything. In fact, because he he a long history of interference with the canonical jurisdictions of other Patriarchates (of whom there are 8) he is considered a dangerous fool by many.

Why not just revive the BCCI/Banco Lavorno Papal Bank scam— it would be a lot more “transparent” than this idiotic worldwide investment scam masquerading as... religion, when it is actually being pushed by Goldman Sachs all over again.

Remember, Goldman started and took down the failed “Carbon Commodity Credits” exchange in Chicago. To support the idiot notion that CO2 is all man made caused and the cause of “global warming” or... is that global cooling/freezing. As opposed to the start of a new 200 year mini-ice age, just like the end of the cycle last occurring and ending about the time of the American Revolution. Cold as hell.
