Most Christians Are Frauds, Chilling Study Suggests. Here's What You Can Do About It

Although a majority of American adults identify as Christian, only six percent of Americans actually live out a biblical worldview, according to a shocking new study. Partially in response to this finding, the Family Research Council (FRC) is launching the Center for Biblical Worldview, directed by David Closson, in order to encourage Christians to live out their faith authentically. The Center will feature the work of veteran public opinion researcher George Barna and theologian Owen Strachan.

“Dutch theologian Abraham Kuyper once remarked that there is not one square inch over which Jesus Christ does not cry, ‘Mine!’ Kuyper’s point is that the lordship of Jesus extends to all aspects of reality and our lives,” Closson told PJ Media on Wednesday. “Unfortunately, this crucial insight has been largely forgotten today, even by many in our churches where we have a diminished understanding of Christ’s lordship.”

“But Paul is clear about the scope of Christ’s lordship; it includes everything. Colossians 1:16 says, ‘For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.’ This has implications how we think about our resources and material blessings,” Closson explained. “If all things exist and are sustained by Christ, they are His already.”

“I’m afraid we have lost the biblical concept of stewardship, which teaches that everything we have is a gift from God and is to be used for His glory,” the director lamented.

Yep. The key point is that it is basically saying the books at the time were written by men inspired by God. And it’s important to note that this is different from the writers going into a trance and God controlling their hand and writing the exact words he wanted written. That is more the sort of thing the single author books (Book of Mormon and the Quran) claim.

These writers were inspired by God in the same way that a modern man may be inspired to write a book about his relationship with his wife that he dearly loves. It’s about inspiration and how much control it has over what you write.

That’s the problem. People think they know what God says.

What do you care what others say? Get your Bible out and get the message directly from the source. Why settle for second hand interpretations. I would dare say those you are talking about seldom read their Bible.

They read it. They just have their interpretations.

A few thoughts:

1) Do you read and study it?

2) Most people want simple answers and pick and choose. Yes you can find “contradictions” and interpretations. Why do people want simple answer? It empowers them, they are in control (they think).

3) The first rule I learned in studying statistics is, “Statistics NEVER gives you an answer, at best, it gives you another question.

God is the same way, if you are reading it and getting answers, you are doing it wrong. Ok, you do get answers but it should lead to another question.

4) Again, “What does God say on the matter?” Go to the source and ignore what others say. Or at least test what they say against the source.

5) Absolutely do not let others tell you what the Bible says.

6) It is ok to have different ideas and debate them, that is iron sharpening. It gets you closer to the Truth.

I think a lot of people want to be Christians, and generally believe the fundamental tenets of the church, and the teachings of Jesus Christ. But, I also believe that following Christ and making a daily commitment is very difficult; and many people find a balance between this worldly life and a spiritual life that they are comfortable with. In my own life, I probably practice my faith more than many, but certainly less than I could. As I get disillusioned more and more with the world today, I find myself drawn more to the life that Jesus would have me live. Still, I can do more.

I have a very liberal friend - whose brain is so “open” that I feel it will fall out - who thinks we’re all God’s children. That is not true at if you read the Bible. She still doesn’t get it when I tried to explain it to her. “Not everyone who says unto me, Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of Heaven.”
