Actually there are several mentions in scripture of the Almighty and others commanding their words be recorded.
................................................
Really? Chapter and verse, please.

The Catholic Church began with Jesus Christ and the Apostles. Where are you getting your mistaken information?

Well we know where you get your mistaken and mythical information! Why don't you show the class where the Bible mentions the Catholic Church? The Bride of Christ, His body, is made up of ALL genuine, by faith believers in Jesus Christ. It's hardly limited to that group which presumes to copyright the words "Catholic" (which meant universal or of-the-whole, and was NOT capitalized in the second century and was not based in Rome) and "Church" (which was not capitalized, and was referring to the assembly of ALL the believers scattered about the world). Happy to clear that up for you!

There have been plenty of bad Popes. The Medicis, the Borgias, the rival Popes of the Great Schism of the 14th Century....

Shouldn't you first decide if it was God or man who established the Pope?

I'm going with man doing it, not God, but that's just me.

Read St. Paul. That’s where the people were first called Catholics.

Yes, and every single one of them was still Catholic. The question should be: Does God permit a non-Catholic, manifest heretic pope?

According to St Robert Bellarmine, Doctor of the Church, no:

Therefore, the true opinion is the fifth, according to which the Pope who is manifestly a heretic ceases by himself to be Pope and head, in the same way as he ceases to be a Christian and a member of the body of the Church; and for this reason he can be judged and punished by the Church. This is the opinion of all the ancient Fathers, who teach that manifest heretics immediately lose all jurisdiction..."

Those ancient Cardinals choose the Pope. Opps! They picked a dud this time.

Yes, plenty of bad Popes.

He also, for reasons I cannot fathom, allows Peter Popoff to sell little packets of “miracle water” on television which allegedly cause large checks to be rerouted to the mailbox of the holder.

Curious that you can't seem to post the ACTUAL verse. No, Paul NEVER used the word "Catholic" nor did anyone else in the New Testament. Wanna try again?

As an ex-Catholic, I must warn you that you are being deceived and lack discernment. If the Holy Spirit regenerates you, you will see for yourself.

I recommend you pay no mind to ex-Catholics who give you “advice”.
