The ceremony takes place three times a year, and failure to liquefy is seen as a portent of disaster
The blood of St Januarius has liquefied at the thrice-yearly ceremony but the officiating cardinal fell ill.
Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, the Archbishop of Naples, blanched and had to sit down, according to the news agency ANSA. The blood of the saint had reportedly liquefied, but the cardinal was unable to take the reliquary outside.
The liquefaction of St Januariuss blood is said to take place three times a year: once in May, once in December, and once on September 19 the feast day of the fourth-century bishop and martyr.
Many Neapolitans believe that when the saints blood remains solid, it portends disaster. It preceded, for instance, a famine in 1559, a cholera outbreak in 1833, the Allied bombing in 1944, and an earthquake in 1980.
According to a Catholic Encyclopedia entry from 1910, the blood normally liquefies in May and September, but in the December event the blood remains solid more often than not.

No actually the Lord gave us the Bible by His Holy Spirit through Jewish Apostles not through gentile pagans.

I didnt realize you had to dig the idol back up and take it to your new house and display it with honor and respect!?
A solid foot down in the ground, head first facing the house. — Lots of rules with this bunch.
I think I will just stay perpetually upset with their constant and culturally oppressive over capitalization and commercialization of the of the word ‘church’ (Strong’s #1577), Thats plenty for me.
It's interesting to notice that the Religion Forum seems to have the most rules (and probably the lease conversions) of any part of Free Republic.

Apparently too many!

Oh Well,,
“Then LISTEN to what TEACHERS of the CHURCH say about it!!!”
Sorry Elsie they only cherry pick what they want to listen to and for the most part it seems to be the wrong part or pagan part. For the couple parts they are right on they end up being like a broken clock, only accurate twice a day.
The point is that Jesus built his Church on men...Peter and the Apostles.....and not on a book
Christ used men. He still uses men.
He Himself is the Foundation.
For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.
He uses men, as He has *always* done.
More importantly, He gives Scripture as an infallible and unchangeable, authoritative standard of truth.
No man and no assembly can ever rightly contradict His Word.
As I said in my last post, He has also given every assembly: pastors, teachers, & elders to guide the flock. They are guided by the Spirit and the Word. Their authority, as men, is fallible. His Word, which predates the Church by thousands of years is eternal and never fades away.
.
>> “The point is that Jesus built his Church on men...Peter and the Apostles.....and not on a book <<
He didn’t build any church; he expanded his ancient Kehillah. (the collective ‘Remnant’ from the beginning.)
.
Hark! Yon Roman Rooster crows!
The Christians at Corinth received Paul’s letters as instruction from an authority figure; the evangelist who brought them the Gospel. These letters were subsequently canonized and assembled into Scripture by men but the Gospel was already spreading through the Apostles and those whom they consecrated.
Scripture was inspired by Gods Holy Spirit. Even Pauls writings were recognized by Peter as Scripture - before the churches considered a canon.
It was not Pauls choosing.
It was God. Not men. Paul was used by the Spirit.
As to the canon, this has been examined many times during the centuries and Romes Errors corrected, God working through men.
So what? It means that we must have men like the apostles who can orally speak as wholly inspired of God, providing Divine revelation thereby, as the NT church had. But which your popes and councils do not.
Or it would mean oral transmission must be God's most-reliable means of preservation, but which it is not. In-stead, God manifestly made writing His most-reliable means of preservation. (Exodus 17:14; 34:1,27; Deuteronomy 10:4; 17:18; 27:3,8; 31:24; Joshua 1:8; 2 Chronicles 34:15,18-19, 30-31) Psalm 19:7-11; 119; John 20:31; Acts 17:11; Revelation 1:1; 20:12, 15; Matthew 4:5-7; 22:29; Luke 24:44,45; Acts 17:11)
And thus as abundantly evidenced , as written, Scripture became the transcendent supreme standard for obedience and testing and establishing truth claims as the wholly Divinely inspired and assured, Word of God. Thus the veracity of even apostolic oral preaching could be subject to testing by Scripture, (Acts 17:11) and not vice versa.
Failing this, your church can presume to infallibly declare she is and will be perpetually infallible whenever she speaks in accordance with her infallibly defined (scope and subject-based) formula, which renders her declaration that she is infallible, to be infallible, as well as all else she accordingly declares.
Including that some oral traditions are the word of God, even a fable that developed, but which was so lacking in early testimony (where it would be found) that chief scholars of Rome opposed it being declared apostolic doctrine . But for Rome, history, tradition and Scripture only authoritatively consist of and mean what she says
If she does say so herself.,
However, the premise of ensured perpetual magisterial infallibility as per Rome is novel and unScriptural. And was not promised to the NT church, never being needed for authority or providing and preserving faith. A
? You're working on the wrong ecclesial model. Jesus came to found a Church and the Church gives us the book and its correct understanding. First came the Church then came the book.
By which logic first century souls should have heeded the magisterial stewards of the body of Scripture that had been established as authoritative, who sat in the seat of Moses over Israel, and
"unto them were committed the oracles of God," (Rm. 3:2) to whom pertaineth" the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises" (Rm. 9:4) of Divine guidance, presence and perpetuation as they believed, (Gn. 12:2,3; 17:4,7,8; Ex. 19:5; Lv. 10:11; Dt. 4:31; 17:8-13; Ps, 11:4,9; Is. 41:10, Ps. 89:33,34; Jer. 7:23)
And instead of following the historical magisterium as docile sheep as the Catholic model requires, the elect 1st c. souls followed an itinerant Preacher whom the magisterium rejected, and whom the Messiah reproved by Scripture as being supreme, (Mk. 7:2-16) and established His Truth claims upon scriptural substantiation in word and in power, as did the early church as it began upon this basis. (Mt. 22:23-45; Lk. 24:27,44; Jn. 5:36,39; Acts 2:14-35; 4:33; 5:12; 15:6-21;17:2,11; 18:28; 28:23; Rm. 15:19; 2Cor. 12:12, etc.)
In addition, the church of Rome is not the NT church, for Catholic distinctives are simply not manifest in the only wholly inspired substantive authoritative record of what the NT church believed (including how they understood the OT and gospels), which is Scripture, especially Acts thru Revelation.
Read Acts. At this time there was no New Testament. When Paul and Barnabas got into a dispute in Antioch about circumcision, they could not say...."let's see what the New Testament says about this". It didn't exist. Instead, We're told that they returned to Jerusalem to consult with the "apostles and ancients" (Acts 15: 4-6).
But they could consult Scripture, and did, with Paul rightly understanding the nature of circumcision under the prophesied New Covenant, and with James invoking Scripture as being fulfilled, and providing the final sentence on what should be done, confirmatory of Peter's evangelical gospel and counsel, and consented to by the rest.
And contrary to Rome, the veracity of their decision was not based upon the the novel and unScriptural premise of ensured perpetual magisterial infallibility, but they said "it seemed good to use and to the Holy Spirit," but we know it was correct by its inclusion in Scripture.
The Church is built on Peter.....a man....not on a book.
WRONG. The belief that Peter was the rock of Mt. 16:18, and thus that the church looked to Peter as the first of a line of infallible popes reigning supreme over the church (esp. from Rome) is not what we see manifest in the record of the NT church (and which even Catholic researchers, among others, provide testimony against , and is contrary to it. In contrast to Peter, that the LORD Jesus is the Rock (petra) or "stone" (lithos, and which denotes a large rock in Mk. 16:4) upon which the church is built is one of the most abundantly confirmed doctrines in the Bible (petra: Rm. 9:33; 1Cor. 10:4; 1Pet. 2:8; cf. Lk. 6:48; 1Cor. 3:11; lithos: Mat. 21:42; Mk.12:10-11; Lk. 20:17-18; Act. 4:11; Rm. 9:33; Eph. 2:20; cf. Dt. 32:4, Is. 28:16) including by Peter himself. (1Pt. 2:4-8) Rome's current catechism attempts to have Peter himself as the rock as well, but also affirms: On the rock of this faith confessed by St Peter, Christ build his Church, (pt. 1, sec. 2, cp. 2, para. 424) which understanding some of the so-called church fathers concur with.)
As for there being no mention of the Communion of Saints in Scripture, that's false.
Correct, but incorrect as regards praying to created beings in Heaven. Nowhere in Scripture do we see any believers engaging in prayer to created beings in Heaven (PTCBIH), or instructed to do so, despite the Spirit inspiring the recording of over 200 prayers, and of this being a most basic practice, and despite there always being plenty of created beings to pray to, and occasions for it since the Fall, yet the only prayers or offerings in Scripture to anyone else in the unseen spiritual heaven is by pagans, including to the only Queen of Heaven seen in Scripture.
Failing to find even one example of PTCBIH, and with instruction on who to address in prayer to Heaven only being that of to the Lord, thus you must resort to eisegetical extrapolation, presuming those in Heaven can not only hear/understand all prayers from earth, mental or oral (which only God is shown able to do), but that we are to address them, though again the Holy Spirit never mentions even one example of doing so.
Meanwhile, from what I recall, any two-way communication btwn created beings in Heaven and earth required both to somehow be present in the same location, and was not that of asking them to intercede to God for them, and was very rare.
Note that elders and angels offering prayers (Rv. 5:8; 8:4,5) in memorial - like as in Lv. 2:2,15,16; 24:7; Num. 5:15; 16:9, "an offering of memorial" cf. Num. 16:9, - is not that of them being addressed in prayer, nor does it indicate that they had heard them previously, nor is it described as being a regular postal service, but it is one of the things which is a preclude to the final judgments upon the earth, testifying to the persecutions of the saints by the devil and world that it fit to be punished.
For when "He maketh inquisition for blood, he remembereth them: he forgetteth not the cry of the humble. (Psalms 9:12; cf. Genesis 4:10) and before judgment God brings forth testimony of the warrant for it, which includes the cry of those martyred souls under the altar in Rv. 6:9, and with odors representing prayer, akin to Leviticus 6:15, "burn it upon the altar for a sweet savour, even the memorial of it, unto the Lord." (Leviticus 6:15)
Okay, so if Rome tells me that sodomy is okay and that priests are allowed to rape children and suffer no consequences, that must be the truth.
Because I’m not allowed to interpret Scripture; they are.
Because it sounds like that’s what you’re telling me.
It’s interesting to notice that the Religion Forum seems to have the most rules (and probably the lease conversions) of any part of Free Republic.

LOL.....really.....who showed me that?
I did NOT say that you RECOGNIZED it as error.
Why had the Catholic church gone SO FAR off the rails (as SHOWN by John in Revelation) even BEFORE the 'book' was finished?
Could not the 'authority figures' get Christianity firmly in place in those seven places mentioned?
Wewll; I'll give ya this: at least the MESSENGERS were not being killed for bringing the Message.
Yet...
Too bad that the message seems to have strayed off course a bit.

For in Scripture it says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame." 7. Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, "The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone, " 8. and, "A stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall."
