Heavenly Father –
As we pass an anniversary of the start of World War II– September 1, 1939– may we remember Your deliverance, Lord, during those dark and evil days. Throughout history, You have raised up men and women, empowered by Your Spirit, to keep the full fury of hell at bay until the day of Your final deliverance. In Your Wisdom, You have often chosen weak and imperfect vessels, as in the words of the Apostle Paul:
After Pearl Harbor, we remember our president FDR, crippled by polio, who in his physical weakness committed to victory over evil with God’s help:
In the UK, we remember Winston Churchill. During World War I, he had failed miserably as First Lord of the Admiralty. Yet, during World War II, he was raised up as Prime Minister to confront Hitler, replacing the appeasing “peace-in-our-time” Neville Chamberlain.
And, we remember the sudden ascension to the throne of George VI whose story was told in The King’s Speech. Though he struggled with lack of self-confidence and stuttering, this king spoke to his people with moral clarity and conviction after the declaration of war:
May we take heart that, during perilous times, our merciful Lord has raised up and still raises up unlikely leaders and deliverers. Those, who in their weakness, put their trust in Him.

In our time, Donald Trump has been raised up to fight for the soul of our nation and champion the forgotten man and woman. This political outsider was not supposed to win, opposed by all political parties, the entrenched Deep State, high tech barons, the mainstream press, and the entertainment industry: When People Laughed At The Idea Of Donald Trump Actually Being Elected President! The Lord works in mysterious ways.
We praise you, Lord, that You are the God of the Second Chance. And have mercifully given us a thousand second chances.
May our gracious Lord protect President Trump. Fill him with Your Spirit. Grant him Your Wisdom. Give him courage, discernment, and strength. Deliver him from the treachery of the enemy within and betrayals of friends and associates.
May Your Provident hand move in the 2018 mid-term elections and ensure the integrity of those elections. May all attempts of voter fraud be frustrated. Raise up godly representatives who look out for We, the People. May godly judges rise to the bench—especially justices to the Supreme Court.
Give Your people a heart of repentance. A hunger for Your Word. Spiritual discernment. Spark revival in our hearts. Ignite another Great Awakening in our land. And because You, alone, are Good and You, alone, are Great, may all God’s people reflect Your goodness and truly Make America Great Again.
