Pastor Shane Idleman describes losing a child to abortion:
Approximately 22 years ago, as a prodigal, I conceded to my girlfriends request to abort our child around the 5th week. The pain of that decision still haunts me today.
What would my child look like? Was it a boy or a girl? I can picture walking and talking with my child watching his or her first steps holding them when they cry and rejoicing with them when they succeed. But these are just dreams in my mind; dreams that often leave me heartbroken.
Regret is one of the hardest pains because it is a constant reminder that we failed.

At the link to Focus on the Family (via Clinic Quotes) the pastor continues,
“And now, a word for my fellow pastors: we can no longer remain silent while silent screams go unheard. We are to be pillars who support truth. Today, the truth is often neglected, watered-down, or avoided altogether in the hope of not offending members and building a large audience.
“Abortion is rarely mentioned so repentance is never sought. We want to build a church rather than break a heart; be politically correct rather than biblically correct; coddle and comfort rather than stir and convict.”
Not only does he regret his youthful decision, but he wants to point to the correct pro-life way going forward.
What he and other Christian leaders need to do as well is to help support a morally strong culture where sex is honored within marriage and children are seen as a blessing and not an inconvenience to be disposed of.
There are many, many people out there who close their ears when there is a plea to lead a chaste and responsible life. Too many pastors don’t want to “offend” these people.
May I ask your basis for this conclusion? about a wound opening, I mean?
Does that ring true to you, MM?
No, cause the post you’re referring to was about the harsh condemning attitude of a certain poster who revels in God condemning people.
People change and forgiveness is what God’s is all about, not rubbing salt in the wound.
Amen, metmom.
Well said.
Tagline.
Actually, the DRB is in better agreement with the KJV than any of the “modern” versions are, the ones using a synthesized NT Alexandrian-type Greek text and a man-made interpretive translational process for both (the same method that Eve used in explaining the mind of Gode to a serpent).
Experience.
Though I had no part in making the decision.
We were engaged but attending separate universities.
Com[pare your Post #17 to my Post #13.
It is the lesser of two evils.
But why not go for the good? Why no say you only ought to have sexual relations with somebody you can happily foresee having children with, and if that's case, be honest about it and get married.
And make sure you're marrying somebody who's pro-life. That should be obvious.
And that would be positively good.
Unfortunately, not everyone in the whole world is as upright and abstemious as you...nor as judgemental.
Hm? I’m judgmental for calling marriage with a pro-life spouse, good?
Yeah, I guess that’s a judgment. I plead guilty as charged.
That’s still a far cry from “wealthy”!
Rachael’s Vineyard has a recovery weekend for such cases.
You're accusing Mrs. Don-O of being judgmental?!?!?! Are you serious?
In light of what I recall you posting upthread in post 15, which I am providing for you for your convenience, that it the absolute height of hypocrisy.
You are one of the LAST people who should be pointing any fingers in blame for being judgmental.

Thus says miserare in post 15.......
This pastor is extremely egocentric , self-indulgent, and melodramatic. Bet he had a lot of fun getting her pregnant...too bad he wasnt responsible enough to wear a condom!
You very seriously need to take the log out of your own eye.
“This is why we can’t have nice things,” as it were. On threads discussing the Olympics, people are carrying on about homosexual displays which are both tacky and distracting.
Meanwhile, if a person nicely says that the Christian ideal for human sexuality involves a man and a woman, married for life, having children as they naturally arrive ... you’re “judgmental.”
This reminds me of the recent government diktat in France, where a disability-rights organization was prohibited from running ads showing people with Down’s Syndrome living happily, because that would upset all the people who aborted their babies diagnosed with Down’s.
If I thought that was "God," I'd worship Athena instead. Libraries, arts and crafts, armed mayhem!
Laughed, actually. So true. Well said.
