I think the United Empire Loyalists would puke if they saw their descendants -- a lot of tough backwoods riflemen from upper New York and along the frontier, led by the likes of John Simcoe and Simon Girty, Scottish clansmen, former Indian fighters -- tough fighting men. In many instances they were resisting their immediate neighbors for one reason or another or settling grudges.

There are old families in Concord Massachusetts who trace their lines right back to men who stood up at the North Bridge -- now mewling, condescending limousine liberals.
