This was a bizarre situation. The Brothers run several hospitals that are administered by a lay board. The lay board voted to permit euthanasia, and Brother Stockman (the head) protested this, although the hospitals accepted it. Fortunately, for once in recent times, Rome came out on the right side and the Pope supported Br Stockman by ordering that the Brothers not permit euthanasia in their hospitals.
