On an issue which is not absolutely crucial to one's agenda of deconstructing and remodeling the Church, why not boost one's credit rating and burnish one's bona fides with increasingly puzzled and nervous pewsitters, by acting as a Catholic Pope once in a while?

It'll be a win-win situation. More wiggle room to get on with the real business of monkeying with the Church's moral teaching in the area of sexual morality and a sigh of relief from dumbed-down, low information Catholics who want to believe that there's no cause for alarm. It's Belgium, for cryin' out loud! Who cares if an order of brothers can't "off" a few sick people? It aint gonna make a bit of difference to the lavender/modernist stranglehold on the Church. We already own Belgium.
