LONDON, England, July 25, 2017 (LifeSiteNews) Great Ormond Street Hospital argued in court today that Charlie Gard's parents, who ended their legal fight to save their son from being removed from his ventilator, shouldn't be allowed to take him home to spend his final hours.
It's "absolutely tragic ... to see the hospital fight over this issue," human rights activist Rev. Patrick Mahoney, who is in England helping Charlie's parents, told LifeSiteNews.
Chris Gard and Connie Yates fought for months in British and European courts for the right to take their 11-month-old son, Charlie, to another hospital for treatment for his rare mitochondrial disease. Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) argued that its bureaucrats, not Charlie's parents, should decide his fate. GOSH wanted to remove his ventilator.
Chris and Connie raised more than $1.5 million to transfer him to the U.S. Had Charlie been allowed a transfer months ago, his parents believe cutting-edge treatment could have greatly improved his life.
They announced Monday that they were ending their battle to allow Charlie to be transferred because tests from an American doctor showed Charlie's muscles had been allowed to deteriorate too much while the case was in court. Had the doctor been able to treat Charlie earlier, they say it would not have come to this.
"If Great Ormond Street Hospital had allowed Charlie's parents, which they maintained all along, to go to New York to seek this cutting-edge medical treatment, Charlie most likely would be greatly improved right now," Mahoney said in a Facebook live video outside the Royal Courts of Justice. Now, GOSH is continuing its "extremely distrubing" pattern of arguing against Charlie's parents' rights, he said.
"Great Ormond Street Hospital, which is considered one of the finest children's hospitals in the world, just said in open court they......

These people are just EVIL. And no, I’m not talking about the parents of this poor child. /Freepers of course know this.
Negan and his partner Lucille...
There's that word again.
I’d seriously, very seriously consider voting .357 on this one.
They’d take me out, but at least I’d get to be with my son while he died, and I don’t want to live in a world where the rest of my countrymen allow this to happen.
It would send a message.
I’m serious here too.
I’d try to get the lawmaker, go straight to the hospital and get the doctors too.
So who ya gonna shoot ?
Any of these callous socialist f’ers and anyone that got in my way.
I have a feeling that this event seals the deal on whether any Christian in the UK will support this travesty of a medical system in the future!
Revolutions have started for less.
My philosophy also... would be carrying that baby out of that hospital, and anyone who tries to stop me is going to magnetically attract .357.
The arrogance and evil of some people deserves no less of a response.
Wouldn’t be hard to figure out the POS’s making these rulings.
Boy, it's one thing to have a sneaking suspicion that you're owned by the State—as opposed to being Free—but's it's something else entirely for the State to demonstrate that you and your entire family have no meaningful Rights by rubbing your nose directly in the fact.
Telling a family they can't take their child home to say goodbye is something a Slave would expect to hear...
Yep, then maybe the next time they put some poor family through this they’d think twice.
No need for violence here, of course.
The brutality of the hospital’s rationed health care system that never considered the treatment offered by Dr. Hirano here in the USA.
The judicial system’s obstinate blockade which delayed any possibility of the treatment available being effective.
I realize that the President of the United States looks forward to some trade deals with the UK and so on, but I must insist that these individuals like Justice Francis of the High Court and hospital staff etc. etc. be prohibited entry into this country for any vacations, conferences or any other reason etc. etc.
Great Ormond Hospital should be losing some of it’s great doctors today.
And everyone needs to read these articles about the hospital's reasons for keeping Charlie prisoner- just bizarre. They don't make any sense. They twist themselves into knots trying to justify the unjustifiable.
How can these people call themselves doctors? No doctor in good conscience could do what these people have done to this little baby and his family.
But hey it's just one baby right? It's not like he matters. We have to put the interests of the state (read the interests of politicians and billionaires- they are the state) ahead of one little baby.
Too bad for him- right "doctors"?
He can’t and the 1.5 million they raised wouldn’t even cover the cost of taking this extremely ill child, who is on life support, to the United States.
However, in every one of these threads, I see freepers acting like liberals by letting their feelings overcome their reason. I wonder how many on these post actually donated money to Charlie?
IMO, this is WAY WAY too far. Violence would be my answer.
