Not to be contrary, but the Catholic, Orthodox, fundamental, and charismatic churches also reject homosexual marriage.

Yes, that’s what I was thinking. There is still a remnant and it’s larger than the evangelicals.

How would you distinguish fundamentalist from evangelical?

Most Roman Catholics and many Orthodox will vote against Protestants and Republicans, because of perceived slights from a hundred plus years ago.

Many Catholic bishops will carve out a deal rather than stand on principle. They are not counted as part of the opposition, because most of the Catholic church in Europe has caved.

Thanks for making that point, xzins.

The Catholic Church cannot come out pro-sodomy, since neither Divine nor Natural Law has changed. Nor could it. Even in the Catechism, homosexual acts are called gravely sinful and intrinsically disordered.

However there are a lot of Catholics, both clergy and laypeople, especially the young, who apparently disagree with “Nature and Nature’s God” on that point. They’re all now coming out of the closet -— or out from under the floorboards -— under the FrancisKampf.

There are wolves in Shepherd’s clothing.

Much prayer needed here — for every Christian community.

Just to get the quote right: the Catholic Catechism calls active homosexuality a sin of “grave depravity.”
