I am trying to understand the logic here. Why would Christians not want a rapture? I can’t say that the 3.5 or 7 years they would miss would really be ‘living’... It would be considered ‘surviving’, at best.

It’s part of Calvinist doctrine to reject the Rapture. Today, the “Reformed” believe that God is through with Israel and views the Church as its replacement (i.e. Replacement theology). The Rapturists or Dispensationalists say that God has reserved seven more years (Daniel’s 70th Week) for finishing his work with Israel. So it is part doctrinal. And things get heated in these discussions. Dispensationalists are often called cowards, etc.

Some want to go through the Tribulation so that they can suffer for Christ. After all, there’s not a lot of martyrdom in the USA. They want to test their metal, so to speak.
