SAN RAFAEL (CBS SF) A man wearing a jacket that resembled one worn by federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents caused a stir at a San Rafael church during a Spanish-speaking service, police said.
The June 4 incident got the attention of the Canal Community Alliance and Congressman Jared Huffmans office. Police contacted ICE and the FBI and learned the man was not employed by either law enforcement organization.
But the man is a San Francisco city employee and was placed on leave after he showed up wearing the jacket during the Spanish-language service at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection.

$10 Border Patrol cap
(I’m not the seller)
I am and have always been hawkish on the subject of illegal aliens.
That being said, there is a time and place for everything. For this, a church service in neither the right time or the right place.
Stir?
I bet the church goers were stampeding toward the exits.
Wearing an ICE cap when you go to the emergency room gets you faster service because the waiting room clears out.
The jacket said “NICE”, as in we should all be nice to each other.
Exactly.
And why was the guy “placed on leave”? Admittedly, I did not go to the link. Unless he threatened someone, he did nothing wrong by wearing a jacket.
Exactly.....
He did more than just wear an ICE Jacket. Read the story.
Well, I admitted that I had not gone to the full story.
Never, ever, believe a headline writer’s product. They are paid to get readers, they have zero obligation to stick to the facts of logic of the situation.
The church in question is apparently a bit noisy, and he didn’t like it. He complained but got nowhere. So... he orders the novelty jacket online, and he drove a SF Airport government vehicle to the church. He took pictures on a cellphone and videotaped the people inside. He was being a douche, but I don’t see any laws broken. Using a company vehicle to be a douche on your own time is a reason to get a “time-out”, however.
