Ummmmmm....if we SIMPLY REFUSE TO OBEY because of our "free will", then at what point in time do we ever obey? We refuse to obey because of our evil nature and nothing will ever change that unless God changes our hearts.
Joh 1:12-13 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
We are born again not because of our will because of God's will.
The Catholics have left sound gospel teaching long ago. Protestants are heading down this road.
First, let me say that I do not include your posts among those who mock Catholics. I recognize the sincerity in your posts, and they often give me something to think about.
It goes both ways. The posts I am referencing are the same kind of posts that you’ve seen from Catholics. I don’t like it going either way.
Hint: Also recall Christ says you must approach him as a child would. What does that mean? Something to ponder.
I say this as a protestant, methinks all denominations fall short in one manner or another.
Amen, brother.
I thought that going into the confessional weekly was the license one needed.
Truth is Truth.
I have accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior.
If it is Truth that once I have done this, I cannot lose my salvation, then whatever I believe or do after that doesn’t matter. All of these discussions are meaningless. I can follow Catholic practices or I can violate Catholic practices. I can’t go anywhere but heaven when I die.
I don’t even have to believe that I am permanently saved. I may believe that I must fulfill other obligations to maintain my salvation, and I may believe that I can lose my salvation if I die in a state of sin. I may be right about these things, I may be wrong.
Doesn’t matter.
I’m still going to heaven.
So there is absolutely no reason for me to stop being Catholic, and there is absolutely no reason for you to care what Catholics believe or whether they ‘come down hard’ on non-Catholics.

O2
“Jesus + another belief is OK by you; Right?”
You tell me.
I have accepted Jesus as my only Lord and Savior. I did this many years ago.
If I stop believing that and reject Jesus, will I lose my salvation?
If I begin worshiping something else, will I lose my salvation?
If I misinterpret scripture and act accordingly, will I lose my salvation?
Love,
O2
A true follower of Christ will not stop believing and reject Him.
If I begin worshiping something else, will I lose my salvation?
A true follower of Christ will be prompted to correct their ways.
If I misinterpret scripture and act accordingly, will I lose my salvation?
A true follower of Christ has the Holy Spirit to guide them in this matter and all others. The believer also has the written word to draw upon. God also places other believers in one's path to help them.
I have been saved because I have accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior.
Done deal.
I know who Jesus is. I am not a Mormon. I get my knowledge of who Christ is by prayerfully reading the Bible and asking the Holy Spirit for guidance.
“No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him” (1 John 3:6).
So no one who is saved sins anymore?
If one sins, is that proof that they were never saved?
Or is it possible that some sins will cause loss of salvation?
Because if neither of those are true, I’m guaranteed salvation if I am inadvertently sinning, and even if I sin on purpose.
Love,
O2
If you’ve done as you claim you will not bow down before a created image.

SIN does NOT keep one out of heaven - UNBELIEF does...
25 When they found him on the other side of the lake, they asked him, Rabbi, when did you get here?
26 Jesus answered, Very truly I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw the signs I performed but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. 27 Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.
28 Then they asked him, What must we do to do the works God requires?
29 Jesus answered, The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.
30 So they asked him, What sign then will you give that we may see it and believe you? What will you do? 31 Our ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written: He gave them bread from heaven to eat.[c]
32 Jesus said to them, Very truly I tell you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.
34 Sir, they said, always give us this bread.
35 Then Jesus declared, I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. 36 But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. 37 All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away. 38 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. 40 For my Fathers will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.
I cannot TELL you anything.
All I can do is to post from the Scriptures that Rome has assembled.
I’ve read of some other folks who espouses the opinion shown in this reply.
An Answer came back: “...I never knew you.”
I have been saved because I have accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior.
What is to the point is not as to whether you have accepted a "Jesus" (for there are many), but whether the Jesus of the Bible has accepted you as His property, wholly owned and not shared. Paul's concern for his spiritual children was as follows:
2 Corinthians 11:3,4 AV
3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty,
so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus1, whom we have not preached,
or if ye receive another spirit2, which ye have not received, or another gospel3, which ye have not accepted,
ye might well bear with him."

1 = allos = of the same kind, yet another
2 = heteros = of a different kind, not the Holy Spirit of Absolute Life and Truth
3 = heteros = of a different kind, one in which works of any kind by the human
are required for salvation, and/or there is a second chance after physical death, and/or of rewards offered for supererogative works that add to those of The Christ, and/or of a God that is found by seeking Him out rather than being found by Hiim.
What sign do you have of acceptance by the Jesus of the Bible?
I would be pleased to hear your answer.
Neither His Spirit, nor His commandments, are of the type listed by O2. And I only listed yourself as a recipient. But nevertheless, does your salvation require works? Do you have a second chance for heaven after physical death? Do you get rewards in Heaven for adding to the works of The Christ? What sign or evidence do you have of a second birth?
You may wish to include 1 Jn 1:8 to complete your analysis: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
In 1 John 1 he states that Christians do sin but in 1 John 3 Christians do not make it a practice sinning. We don't "continue" in sin.
