Which Comes As Astonishing News To Our Children.

Fowls don't plant corn, they don't raise crops, they don't plow the soil or water the fields. Birds don't do those things, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. We are more important to God then some bird flying around dropping bombs on our windshields. We're a special creation of God and He fashioned us in His own image. We are His unique creation and He has done for us what He has not done for any part of His creation.

Psalms 139:14
I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

Jeremiah 1:5
Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

Think of all the billions of birds and other creatures that have ever lived and not one of them did Christ shed His precious blood for. God loves us and has had mercy on us, He saved us by washing us in the blood of His only begotten Son, why? Because He wants us to live with Him forever and if He wants that than He will take care of us a whole lot better than He does the birds. Are you not more important than the birds?

Matthew 10:30
But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

Ephesians 2:10
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Fowls don’t plant corn, they don’t raise crops, they don’t plow the soil or water the fields. Birds don’t do those things, yet your heavenly Father feeds them.

Actually, birds do plant seeds, or at least drop them on the ground in a variety of ways including pooping them out while in flight or while perching on a tree. Birds are not fed by God per se any more than man is. The birds go out and hunt for their food.

God created a world where there is harmony so that the seeds pooped from birds will grow into more grain, where the pollen that sticks to insects while they hunt and gather food will create new life that will support the birds and bees.

It is a wonderful world that God created. God didn’t mean for man to be idle, we feed ourselves by the sweat of our brow, work. The animals do the same.

God created us to be like Him. Interestingly in the book of Genesis Moses tells us that Adam was in the image of God and then a little later describing Seth as being in the image of Adam. In logic courses if one thing is like another that is like still a third thing then they are all alike.

Do you believe in the preservation of God’s Word? Obviously not the topic of the discussion, but you don’t have the originals.

The point is not that birds don’t participate in the process of seed dispersal. The birds don’t plant seeds in hope of reaping a harvest. They don’t intentionally improve the soil. They don’t water plants in the hopes they will grow bigger. Yet they reap. That’s the point of what Christ is saying in the above passage.

He is certainly not promoting laziness as your post seems to indicate.

Thanks for the reminder of how much God cares for us. God cared enough for his special creation, humans, to send His Son to die for them. In an amazing turn of events, WE are the pearl of great price that a Man sold everything to buy the field to obtain. There is no way WE can sell everything to get Christ. We don’t have enough!

Amen!

The point that The Savior was trying to make is that man has a tendency to worry about things that are unimportant.

It is important to eat but there is plenty. It is important to dress but there are plenty of clothes. It is important to have a roof over our heads but that is not hard to provide.

If on the other hand you want to eat like a royal you must put other important things lower on the list. If you want to dress like a king, you must put some other things lower on your list of things to do, a grand home likewise.

What are the things we put lower on the list? Taking care of our fellow man? Speaking to God and thanking Him for all we have; teaching our children the truth of the Gospel?

Birds don’t ever think about those things. They have an instinct to build a certain kind of house, all the birds of the same species build the same house and they can be happy with that. Birds spend the vast majority of their energy in finding food. When they have young they spend even more time gather food. They do it without thought, it is instinct.

God made man to be like Himself, we think, we reason. We make decisions based on feelings of right and wrong that no other animal does in such magnitude. It has been discovered that some animals do have a concept of right and wrong especially those that live with humans but the research on that is not ready for prime time yet.

Man is a wonderful creation of God. Man worries about the wrong things way too often.

THIS is a very true statement. Concise too.
