You have no testimony then, I take it. You were invited to share one, if you had...

Works still do not justify ourselves unto God. If they did, that would falsify Paul's teachings on grace, and justification. If you were intended to convey that works nonetheless did, then that would be to preach a different Gospel.

Try to be not so wooden in the way you bomb people with passages of Scripture -- and I won't get irritated over it then give you a hard time about it.

You've been asked before to use commonly used means of citing Scripture. It aids in the discussion.

Catholic chapter, protestant verse isn't a recognized format...unless you can provide otherwise.

I cannot help but notice the group animosity to Catholics here. It reminds me of this rule. “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions.

I cannot but help notice how thin skinned Roman Catholics can be.

I've not included a link to an article in some of my posts. Salvation is quick to request the post.

I don't go all snowflake on her as your rule suggests you are doing.

You misunderstand. I wrote that your allegation of a private revelation in irrelevant here because it cannot be substantiated.

Works still do not justify ourselves unto God. If they did, that would falsify Paul's teachings on grace, and justification. If you were intended to convey that works nonetheless did, then that would be to preach a different Gospel.

Really ? What do you define as works ?

I misunderstood nothing that you said. Where is your own testimony?

Sorry.

Not going to play your game, where I have to do all the work, and where what was originally said slips away to be forgotten.

Where is your own testimony?

And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done.

Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.

And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.

Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.

And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.

He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.

And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

Revelation, Catholic chapter twenty two, Protestant verses six to sixteen ,
as authorized, but not authored, by King James

That's not your testimony.

I testify to you that Jesus is the Messiah and whatsoever he says to you, do it.

And I told you already that I know the sound of his voice -- that He has told me things, myself telling you in response to the last time you wrote Do whatever He tells you. You said that didn't matter because I couldn't prove it to others.

You also presume to be my instructor while quoting Scripture in ways that would lead one to believe that salvation was contingent upon one's own works.

That is a different Gospel than what Paul preached. There is no escaping that.

Somehow, your own thinking on this must be disordered/confused.

Scripture must harmonize, for it is not the Lord who is author of confusion. I could help clear up what confusion you are experiencing, but you'd have to take the chip off your shoulder, and drop the passive-aggressive act which you've been so long on these pages polishing, and perfecting.

I get a LOL out of that one, too. I suspect it may even make Jesus crack a smile. ;o)

I think you are referring to this one, which is a paraphrase of the Bible:

  "https://www.amazon.com/Living-Bible-Tyndale/dp/0842322477/" - "The Living Bible"

(They have a large-print version of it available there at Amazon too.)

However, I have no patience for the “cult of King James”; those that believe its the only true Bible.

Can you imagine the problems for a Chinaman?

Or Hindu or Bantu or Russian, Spaniard, German, or Canadian speaker; eh?

And then along came Joe...

THE ARTICLES OF FAITH
OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS
History of the Church, Vol. 4, pp. 535—541

  1. We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
  2. We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam's transgression.
  3. We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
  4. We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
  5. We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.
  6. We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.
  7. We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.
  8. We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
  9. We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
  10. We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.
  11. We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
  12. We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.
  13. We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

Joseph Smith

There once was an old dude named Joe
Through Angel Moroni, his words did flow
He spiced up his life
With more than one wife
He just wanted to make his garden grow.

There IS a “King James Only” that started up quite few days ago prior to this thread. Guess it is more of a Bible study.

Sort of like a girls only club.

I had the same one as a teen. Once the NIV came out I abandoned the Living Bible and the KJV.

The green one I had certainly was not a JW Bible.

'Tis a little of both.
The first concern of the translators has been the accuracy of the translation and its fidelity to the thought of the Biblical writers.

They have weighed the significance of the lexical and grammatical details of the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts.
At the same time, they have striven for more than a word-for-word translation.

Because thought patterns and syntax differ from language to language, faithful communication of the meaning of the writers of the Bible demands frequent modifications in sentence structure and constant regard for the contextual meaning of words.
