In a 3-2 decision, the Wyoming Supreme Court has censured a judge who declined to officiate at same-sex civil marriages because of her faith.
Judge Ruth Neely, a member of the Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod), was willing to refer same-sex couples to other judges for civil marriage.
We find that Judge Neelys misconduct warrants a public censure, the court ruled. We further find that Judge Neely must perform her judicial functions, including performing marriages, with impartiality. She must either commit to performing marriages regardless of the couples sexual orientation, or cease performing all marriage ceremonies.
Wyoming Supreme Court Censures Judge Who Refused To Perform Same-Sex Marriages (Religion Clause)
It’s weird how judges who agree to participate in these fiascos are never “censured”.
this kind of Krap is going on in WYOMING!?????????????
Lord, please tell us that WY is still a place with decent, sane poeple??
As a Missouri Synod Lutheran I would expect nothing less. Good for her!
Judge Ruth Neely is correct.
Any word from Popey?
She should have to perform marriages if it’s part of her duties. But it is physically impossible for men to marry men or for women to marry women.
How dare you disobey the illegal and illegitimate edicts of your ABA brethren!
3/89/17?
;-)
You will be made to care.
Take marriages licenses away from the state. The churches can handle it.
And what LAW did the judge not enforce?
I have faith that nearly all of us here are wonderfully
saneand virtuous people. Every day as I go around town
here. I am reminded of that as people go out of their way
to help one another.
They probably will make her bake the cake, too.
Homosexual acts should still be illegal. These perverts need to be shown intolerance.
Judge Neely should have claimed she was muslim. instant pass.
My hat is off to her, but to hell with the other Judges.
Homosexual acts should still be illegal. These perverts need to be shown intolerance.
