The Lord, the Avenger of His People
Psalm 35: A Psalm of David. (NKJV)

1 Plead my cause, O Lord, with those who strive with me; fight against those who fight against me. 2 Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for my help. 3 Also draw out the spear, and stop those who pursue me. Say to my soul, “I am your salvation.”

4 Let those be put to shame and brought to dishonor who seek after my life; let those be turned back and brought to confusion who plot my hurt. 5 Let them be like chaff before the wind, and let the angel of the Lord chase them. 6 Let their way be dark and slippery, and let the angel of the Lord pursue them.

7 For without cause they have hidden their net for me in a pit they have dug without cause for my life. 8 Let destruction come upon him unexpectedly, and let his net that he has hidden catch himself; into that very destruction let him fall. 9 And my soul shall be joyful in the Lord; it shall rejoice in His salvation.

10 All my bones shall say, “Lord, who is like You, delivering the poor from him who is too strong for him, yes, the poor and the needy from him who plunders him?” 11 Fierce witnesses rise up; they ask me things that I do not know. 12 They reward me evil for good, to the sorrow of my soul.

13 But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth; I humbled myself with fasting; and my prayer would return to my own heart. 14 I paced about as though he were my friend or brother; I bowed down heavily, as one who mourns for his mother. 15 But in my adversity they rejoiced and gathered together; attackers gathered against me, and I did not know it; they tore at me and did not cease;

16 With ungodly mockers at feasts they gnashed at me with their teeth. 17 Lord, how long will You look on? Rescue me from their destructions, my precious life from the lions. 18 I will give You thanks in the great assembly; I will praise You among many people.

19 Let them not rejoice over me who are wrongfully my enemies; nor let them wink with the eye who hate me without a cause. 20 For they do not speak peace, but they devise deceitful matters against the quiet ones in the land. 21 They also opened their mouth wide against me, and said, “Aha, aha! Our eyes have seen it.”

22 This You have seen, O Lord; do not keep silence. O Lord, do not be far from me. 23 Stir up Yourself, and awake to my vindication, to my cause, my God and my Lord. 24 Vindicate me, O Lord my God, according to Your righteousness; and let them not rejoice over me.

25 Let them not say in their hearts, “Ah, so we would have it!” Let them not say, “We have swallowed him up.” 26 Let them be ashamed and brought to mutual confusion who rejoice at my hurt; let them be clothed with shame and dishonor who exalt themselves against me.

27 Let them shout for joy and be glad who favor my righteous cause; and let them say continually, “Let the Lord be magnified who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.” 28 And my tongue shall speak of Your righteousness and of Your praise all the day long.

Father God,

Blessed and Holy Creator of All that Was, and Is, and Is to Come, hear our prayer!

We lift up our hearts in gratitude and praise for all you have given us as a nation, most especially our Constitution, unique in all the world, forward-looking, founded on Your principles of living.

Our hearts are hopeful that God-fearing men and women have returned to the halls of power; yet we are tempted to the sin of unbelief when we see the ferocious attacks on them of the Deceiver and those in his snares.

But we are so blessed, Lord, that You have given us Your Word on which to set our eyes and which to take deep into our hearts.

As intercessors, we pray every word of Psalm 35 (above) on behalf of Donald Trump, Mike Pence, Jeff Sessions, Steve Bannon, Kellyanne Conway, James Mattis, Sean Spicer, H. R. McMaster, Betsy DeVos, Jared Kushner, Melania Trump, Ivanka Kushner, and every single member of the cabinet, their appointed staffs and their family members.

We ask your blessings, Lord, on the Secret Service assigned to them and their surroundings, and all member of the five beachhead teams working diligently on the administration’s First 100 Days developments.

We lift up Judge Neil Gorsuch as he prepares for his confirmation, and for all other confirmations to be cleared of obstacles and quickly confirmed, including Your faithful servant Ben Carson.

We ask Your blessing and protection, Lord, on those wounded by demonic hatred, including General Flynn and Milo Yiannopoulos. We lift them up for healing and recovery, that they may continue to serve You without discouragement and their individual causes in support of a strong defense, the Bill of Rights and the rule of law in this nation.

Drive the traitors and seditionists from their midst, Father, with Your miraculous Hand of power and mercy. Deal with the resistors everywhere in government and society according to Your Will, Lord, bringing justice and righteousness for the whole of the American people in their government, we humbly ask on their behalf; that our nation once again may be a beacon to the free world, strong in Your service.

We pray in faith, believing, according to Your Word:

You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them. We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. —1 John 4:4–6

Hallelujah! You Are mighty, Lord! We praise and adore You, God of angel armies!

Thanks for the suggestion of Psalm 35. I prayed that, and it felt great! It felt effectual and fervent, too.

When the enemy is all around us, he can’t escape the fury the LORD has in store.

And I’ve been around long enough that it is nothing to do with my own strength. It’s all God’s power all the time; and I will just hang on tightly to His coattails.

Thank you for this glorious day and all the promise with which you bless us.
Heavenly Father, please cover President Trump, his family, friends, employees,around the,world, his cabinet and leadership in the Blood and put a protective hedge around them.
We lift President Trump up and ask that his agenda is blessed, that those who would work against him would have their hearts turned to you and your Glory, Lord. That they would see clearly and without reservation, the goodness that is President Trump and his team.
We know Lord that YOUR will be done. We ask only to seek your will and accept it as our own.

We beseech you to show us the way you would have each individual support him and his glorious mission.
