That would apply to photos you took. Different if you use photos that are the property of others.

If you license their property, I do not see how it could be legal or that the Vatican has any say over legal usage.

If you license it, then you’d have to adhere to the terms of the license.

I have no idea about Italian law, but in the U.S., I would expect the Church would have the same rights under the same laws as anyone else.
