Looks like Commonweal, the anti-Catholic Catholic rag, is going at it hammer and tongs.

I guess he thinks we should like Francis. Can’t stand Francis.

Islam is a religion and a political ideology. Now, Francis wants to do the same with Catholicism. Not going to work here.

Embarrassing failure to coin a term.

Doesn’t feel nice to be marginalized by someone who has no clue to the truth?

Massimo Faggioli has done the impossible: write something to make me respect him even less.

As much as he tries to make his (unproven and unprovable) claim about the possibility of a “Trumpian” schism in Catholicism, he only underscores his own agenda — to bash Catholic Conservatives and Traditionalists (especially Cardinal Burke) with whatever stick is closest in the name of “Protecting Vatican II”. For him as a modernist and a political liberal, to be able to associate Traditionalists and Trump is a most delicious opportunity because he hopes to play the scorn of one off of the scorn of the other and in turn diminish both.

Nowhere in the world is the opposition to Francis so militant and extremist.

USA, USA, USA!

Truly ridiculous article. What kind of dope is this dope Faggioli smoking? Can someone tell Trump to deport this creep back to Italy?

This is straight outta Cuckooland. Commonweal doesn't seem to realize that it's Pope Francis himself who is aggressively pushing the "muscular, crusading" social-political message—in other words, his political ecclesiology: no walls, fight climate change, down with capitalism, etc..

Here's a guy --- God help us--- who thinks the Koran and Sunna are commendable as moral guides, but the writings of his immediate predecessors (JP2 and B16) are not; habitual unrepentant adultery is morally uncertain but promoting the burning of coal is unquestionably a mortal sin and a crime against the Creator of Heaven and Earth.

Lord help the Church.

Lord Jesus, rescue Your bride!

Commonweal may be made up of Modernists, but it is not made up of imbeciles.

They can see Francis edging ever closer to the point of being declared deposed for formal heresy, and they can also see Cardinal Burke being elected as his successor.

They can also see Francis refusing to go quietly and enlisting whatever secular political support to keep him in Rome, at any cost to the Church.

So now is the time to start painting Cardinal Burke as a puppet of the Trump administration, so that his papacy can be denounced accordingly should it happen.

This is the Great Western Schism Part II in the making, possibly with its own period of three Popes.
