“No matter how he spins it, it still knocks adultery down from a felony to a misdemeanor, and the adulterer will still commit blasphemy and sacrilege when they go to Communion.”
Please bundle up all your “adulterers, sinners, blasphemers and those commuting sacrilege” and send them to the nearest evangelical church.
We will introduce them to Jesus Christ, “Friend of tax gatherers and sinners.”
We will take time to love them and teach them His glorious Gospel of grace that they may have eternal life and know they will spend eternity in the presence of God.
This will remove the offense of their existence from all your self-righteous, perfect people. You will be able to thump your chest and say, “Thank God, I’m not like this sinner!”
In the meantime, we will fulfill His mission of salvation and redemption, by his grace. Win, win.
And he said to them, Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
I sure hope you can find a new source of perfect people to fill up all those shrinking and closing churches.
“Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
No good Catholic claims they are perfect and free from sin, so there goes your straw man right there. But Jesus said that divorcing and remarrying was adultery, and remaining in that sin is not repentance. And telling people that continuing in the sinful state of adultery is perfectly fine is not merciful. This is not difficult to understand.
Tell them to bring their third spouse with them, or maybe their fourth AND their lover-on-the side. Jesus accepts them all, as they are, without repentance.
All they have to do is believe, then go and sin some more.
Preach it!!!!
Pot, kettle, black much?
2 Corinthians 5:17-21 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
