I think it is possible that Francis could abdicate and Benedict XVI be asked to return. It’s the best outcome I can see -— but only God knows what is best.

I am somewhat of a Church history buff, and I will say one that none of the “bad popes” -— and by my count, maybe 8 or 9 of them, out of 266, were really morally depraved-— were as bad as this. That’s because the “bad popes” were interested in their mistresses, their wealth, acquiring a castle in France or carrying on Mafia-like family vendettas ,but were frankly NOT interested in theology. They were just plain sold out to money, power, pleasure: simply corrupt in the worldly sense.

As such, they were a horrible example, but they could do little harm to the Church per se.

But Francis seems to be something else entirely: a focused opponent of core Catholic doctrine.

He’s exceedingly dangerous.

In the way most pleasing to You, Lord: please save Your Church.
