This pope is not going anywhere. Unless he is deposed he is in for life - whatever that may be. The upshot is the church will grow around him, in spite of him and without him.

Your last statement is the best...the Church ISN'T the Pope. It's Jesus. We believers and followers of Jesus have OUR hearts turned toward the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
I don't know if YOU know your Church history but during the times of the Medici family bad popes were often the rule, not the exception.
Popes are just men, ordinary men who sin, confess, repent and then sin again. THEY are not ONE iota better than any of us. God loves ALL of us, not Francis more because he IS a pope.
Compared to the Medicis, Francis isn't so bad.
Also he IS already 80 years old and his body WILL give out on him before too long.
HE isn't the Church. JESUS is the Church.
