A key figure in all this is Cardinal Donald Wuerl. If Nancy Pelosi can receive Communion, ANYONE can receive Communion.

John Paul II and Benedict, by dodging the scandal of Communion for Kennedy, Cuomo, Pelosi, Biden, Leahy, etc., are just as responsible for the current crisis as Bergoglio.

What? You can still receive Holy Communion if you are divorced, as long as you are not living in sin.

Ask your priest, and he will assure you that this is true. It’s not the divorce; it is remarrying when the first marriage is still valid in the eyes of the Church.

Nonsense. The Church is the source and custodian of the sacraments.

If you seriously believe what you say, then presumably you consecrate hosts and receive “communion” at your kitchen table.

Perhaps you err in assuming he wants the Church to prevail.

You are very confused about this issue. When you are involuntarily divorced, there is no barrier to receiving Communion.

Why are you making comments about a Catholic issue, when you know nothing about it?

Yup. The Church punted on consistency on this years ago. It is now a muddled cluster****. You have to say no to people who had a spouse leave through no fault of their own, but continue to serve a politician who never met an abortion she would not vote for, and brags about it at every turn.

Personally I am moving on to the more ominous threat of Bergoglio's full-throated embrace of Communism. If some divorcee in Wichita receives unworthily it's between her and Almighty God. If Communists get into power they'll be killing us all.

If a person got divorced and remarried he is committing adultery on his first wife. Is he to divorce the second wife, and return to his first wife in order to receive forgiveness?

BTW, Wuerl is from Pittsburgh. I am in Pittsburgh.
We have mutual acquaintances. I am sure he has seen the same numbers I’ve seen about plummeting attendance and financial support in this Diocese.

Further reinforcement for my belief that this is a done-deal and is coming from the very top.

That is a Protestant attitude. You decide for yourself what the Bible means by what it says and God will uphold your decision.

It will spread to all sins. If you feel that your actions or thoughts should be okay with God then God will affirm you. By extension, of course, if you feel that abstaining from murder and rape is a sin then you can murder and rape and God will be okay with that.

You have no concept of what Religion is if you think that a sin is not a sin if you just find a compatible preacher. why bother with church at all? For you then it is just an interesting way to pass an hour on Sunday.

Man’s doctrines and traditions did not impress Jesus (”teaching for doctrines the commandments of men” Mark 7:7) and do not impress me.

Our authority is Scripture not church doctrine ( 2 Timothy 3:16).

Jesus said of communion, “this do YOU as often as YOU take it” (1 Cor 11:23-26). Communion is between Christ and his disciples. No mention of a church being the go-between.

So show in Scripture where “the Church gives us Communion” and where the Catholic Church is inseparable from Christ.

It is no miracle at all if you partake in the Eucharist while in unconfessed, unrepented serious sin, even if your priest said it’s okay. In my parish there is a couple living illicitly together. The woman left a husband. They do not take Communion. They know that they are living in sin and are not so deluded they think that God makes different rules for different churches.

It is not that divorce is okay without remarriage. it is that the Church does not recognize that any divorce can occur. A piece of paper does not make a divorce. Without an annulment or widowhood you are still married to your wife.

The Church is the source and custodian of the sacraments.

Where does Scripture say that?

presumably you consecrate hosts and receive “communion” at your kitchen table

I do that all the time and am blessed by Jesus Christ. Where does Scripture forbid such?
