It’s not our friend. No one said it better than Thomas Paine: “Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one”. History proves it, liberals ignore it.

Yesterday, FoxBusiness had a two hour long commercial - promoting 10 DVDs for $100 of Bob Hope shows. Clips only, but they were so great. He was a truly special performer and the troops loved him.

Also promoted DVDs of Dean Martin, Sinatra, Bobby Darin and all the great music of the past. I realize now, what we are missing. Music used to calm the savage beast or inspire us with love and joy - today it does nothing but inspire rage and bad behavior......if you can understand the lyrics, or stand the sound.

Never saw one of those shows. Did see a Vietnamese rock band in a hotel bar off Tu Duo Street in Saigon in 1968,

It was an interesting take on US culture as they sang “Mut Tang Sally! You bettah slow you Mut Tang down!”

Seen him in DEC 1970 at Camp Eagle, they brought in some dancers, Ursula Andress, Lola Falana and a very young Johnny Bench. The last song sang before they left was Silent Night. That was my first Christmas away from home (First time for many of us), had to wipe the tears from my eyes.

They couldn’t make up a good enough tv audience at Long Binh so they came out to the firebases to recruit to fill the place up. Nobody wanted to ride for hours in back of a deuce’n half even for Hope, so they lined us up and took “volunteers” and I got picked. It was the only time I convoyed my whole tour. It was dirty and dangerous and most of us were “trucksick”, by the time we got there the place was packed with the officers and REMFs all up front. We were a poorly uniformed and un-telegenic mess and ended up out of sight behind the bleachers where we could barely hear the show.
