Russian President Vladimir Putin and Pope Francis discussed the issue of protection of Christians in regional conflict zones and cooperation in the cultural-humanitarian sphere in a phone call on Saturday, the Kremlin said in a statement

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, Putin wished Pope Francis a happy 80th birthday and expressed desire to meet in person and discuss global issues.

“The Russian president and Pope Francis exchanged views on the issues of protection of Christians in regional conflict zones and the importance of a constructive interconfessional dialogue to preserve moral principles in the international affairs,” the statement read.

Much of the recent rhetoric coming from the Vatican has been aimed at undermining the "just war" doctrine. Francis has, on several occasions, stated that non-violence is the only response to a world at war. The nadir, of course, was his outburst last August when he said 'If I Speak of Islamic Violence, I Must Speak of Catholic Violence’

I'd like to know exactly how Francis aims to protect Christians in the Middle East from a group like ISIS, without recourse to military action, similar to that undertaken by Russia in Syria.

This Pope is a little late to the game. Very Sad. Our country isn’t even in the game or isn’t playing in all of the quarters. Our Heavenly Father has great rewards for those who are persecuted for their belief in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. There is victory in Jesus. The battle has already been won. . .it is just a matter of time (perhaps sooner than we think) when God is going to give Jesus the nod to come back again in the clouds. Everyone. . .be ready. Now is the time for Salvation.

Putin called the Pope, presumably in order to explain to him that the Muslim terrorists are not good to the Christians there. Unfortunately, the Pope doesn’t get it.

Pretty sad when Putin is, by default, a defender of faith in the physical sense.

Now that Donald Trump is in, sudden braveness.Mr. Pope where have you been for so long as Christians, including many children, have been raped, tortured, mutilated and murdered horribly? Where were you when Christian parents received their precious children's bodies back, but minus their heads, because their severed heads were on stakes displayed in public parks? Oh, you were busy worrying about bogus crisis such as “global warming”, the current one world anti Christ rant. But now suddenly you find this cause now that Trump has been elected and has already championed it. I suppose, when he brings real help to so many suffering Christian in harms dastardly way you will be their to take credit.
