This is insanity. I plan to shoot up a train that is filled with people...I go to confession and ask the priest to absolve me of the sin I am about to commit...the priest responds, “No problem!”...I leave the confessional to shoot several people, assured that I had been forgiven for what I was about to do...What in the name of God is going on?!

Amending my post above...it is time for ordinary Catholics to begin to pray fervently for a resolution to the crisis created by Pope Francis. I myself have done much complaining, and not enough praying.

As long as you have undergone a "period of discernment", you are free to proceed in whatever mortal sin you choose.

I suppose the idea is that you get forgiven of all your previous sins, and the priest tells you that suicide is a serious sin, and he get absolve you for it, but God is understanding and merciful.

Makes the last moments more peaceful, which seems to matter more than the afterlife.

My father committed suicide, and I hope with all my heart that God was merciful, but to co-operate with such an evil and give it social sanction is an abomination.
