Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

The Book of Psalms

(Psalm 42)

Psalm 42[a][b]

For the director of music. A maskil[c] of the Sons of Korah.

1 As the deer pants for streams of water,
    so my soul pants for you, my God.
2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
    When can I go and meet with God?
3 My tears have been my food
    day and night,
while people say to me all day long,
    “Where is your God?”
4 These things I remember
    as I pour out my soul:
how I used to go to the house of God
    under the protection of the Mighty One[d]
with shouts of joy and praise
    among the festive throng.

5 Why, my soul, are you downcast?
    Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
    for I will yet praise him,
    my Savior and my God.

6 My soul is downcast within me;
    therefore I will remember you
from the land of the Jordan,
    the heights of Hermon—from Mount Mizar.

7 Deep calls to deep
    in the roar of your waterfalls;
all your waves and breakers
    have swept over me.

8 By day the Lord directs his love,
    at night his song is with me—
    a prayer to the God of my life.

9 I say to God my Rock,
    “Why have you forgotten me?
Why must I go about mourning,
    oppressed by the enemy?”
10 My bones suffer mortal agony
    as my foes taunt me,
saying to me all day long,
    “Where is your God?”

11 Why, my soul, are you downcast?
    Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
    for I will yet praise him,
    my Savior and my God.

Dear Father in Heaven,
How Hallowed is Your Name!
You Alone Are Worthy of Praise,
For You Alone Are The One True God.
Thank You For Your Provision,
For Your Healing and Restoration,
And For Being ALWAYS Faithful to Your Promises!

We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According to Your Will and Promise.
We Pray For the People and Leaders of Israel,
that They Will Look to You for the Protection
and Prosperity of their Nation.
We Also Pray For Revival in our own Beloved USA.


We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

I have been in the music business for over a half century, and so have met some very famous people whose names you would recognize right away. But, without a doubt, the most awesome gig I have EVER played was the 55th reunion, in 1996, of my state's Pearl Harbor Survivors. (And, no, they were NOT a "bitter" bunch of guys. They were a terrific group of men!)

In the days after the vicious sneak attack 75 years ago, America was "downcast" like David's soul in this Psalm. Like the sneak attack on 9/11/01, the attack on Pearl Harbor caused a huge slump in confidence that is reflected in the shape of the USS Arizona Memorial with that odd-shaped "dip" in the middle. However, just like this Psalm (which I believe came up today as a profound spiritual "coincidence"), and the spirit of the American People, the structure of the Memorial Vessel rises up on each side to reach up to Victory. I have been to the Memorial several times, and this interpretation of the design is the accepted one, so I am not speculating.

America is rising up now from a terrible slump that has been getting worse, not better, since 9/11/01. Let us hope that the 2016 Election has awakened America from its sleep, and filled us with a "Terrible Resolve".

We, as Americans, despise "sneak attacks". This is part of our culture that derives itself from Western Civilization, which, in turn, derives much of its jurisprudence from the Bible. In both Exodus and Deuteronomy there are many laws and ordinances about murder and manslaughter. The whole system of laws involved in Pleas to "Manslaughter 1, Manslaughter 2, Vehicular Homicide, Murder 1, Murder 2, etc, can be traced back to the Torah. "Lying in Wait (Premeditation) and "Sneak Attacks" are at the top of the list of Capital Offenses. So, we can see from His Word that God doesn't like it either!

They are Orthodox and Catholic, Protestant and Evangelical, Coptic, Pentecostal, and Baptist. To the persecutors, we are all "Nazarenes."
