Francis is a Peronista.

I remember once hearing something that went like:

‘If you want to destroy a man completely; destroy everything he believes in and cherishes, you can do this without touching him.’

This church is losing its continuity, losing consistency; this is unfortunately the result of a poor foundation, a house built upon the sand. The great sadness is those whose lives were built upon the foundation.

Destruction of a group, even when it is eventually taken from ‘without’ usually begins with a corruption ‘within’. But ‘group-think’ is dangerous to begin with. It makes it too easy to stray from the path and become a victim.

You recognize your life is the result of your actions and live accordingly, or you live a life that is the result of other’s. Free Will, is the only concept that makes life worth living.

Cardinal George Pell has said that “a number of regularly worshipping Catholics” are “unnerved by the turn of events” in the Church.

"Unnerved" is a euphemism for scandalized. What is happening in the Church is a scandal.

If one reads the writings of previous popes down the ages, one is constantly struck by their concern for the avoidance of any sort of "scandal" amongst the faithful. They are eternally solicitous to avoid anything which might weaken the faith or trouble believers. This is called charity.

This concern for the avoidance of scandal is something which is glaringly absent from Francis' writings and talks. On the contrary, he appears to revel in scandal and goes out of his way to ridicule "rigid" faithful Catholics. For all his blather about "the smell of the sheep", far too much of his energy is spent on beating the sheep with a large stick as he tells them to get used to the "God of surprises".

From where I sit, I see an unhumble, uncharitable man who sneers at the sensitivities of Catholics who love tradition and are heroically attempting to persevere in the faith.

There are a LOT of people I know - family and friends - who think (correctly, IMHO) that Francis and a lot of execrable cardinals have essentially told them that they, their parents, and anyone who kept the faith over the millenia are wrongheaded at best, sinful at worst. Once these people go from being "unnerved" to "fed up," Francis and those of like mind seem likely double down and exacerbate the situation. The church will become a progressive NGO that will grow more and more toxic as the "social justice" components become more and more concentrated.

No doubt they will continue to cherry pick what they want from nearly two thousand years of Christian tradition in order to prove they aren't wolves in sheep's vestments, but a shakeout is coming.

True of the Catholics who know what is going on.
Most are blissfully unaware.

Glad to hear from Cardinal Pell. I hadn’t heard anything from him in a while and was getting worried.

Don’t put your faith in a man-made institution. Problem solved.
