Thanks again. I hope I did not miss anyone. He seems to be only experiencing nerve and incision pain this morning, which is great! His doc called. He was wonderful, I was not worried about that part much.
He did take an awfully long time to come out of the anesthesia. That was my fear. His lungs were diminished before the procedure. The nebulizer was needed prior and it took nearly 8 hours to get his lungs clear enough to come home. But he is resting about as comfortably as one can expect at this point.

That nerve pain may take a while. They need time to unscrunch (relax after being pinched for a time) so don’t let him get discouraged if the nerve (sciatic?) is still causing pain. It WILL get better. Also, he should be using his pain meds to help ease his pain and help him rest. They really DO help in the healing process. Also, some plain old walking will help quite a bit once he feels up to it. I will continue to pray for him as well as your peace of mind.
