In the West, you can barely find a Catholic Liturgy that faces East. Polar opposite, in fact. At best, Northeast. smirk.

Salvation does not come from the east.

Salvation comes from entrusting ourselves to Christ alone for eternal life and forgiveness of sins.

Direction doesn't matter in any way.

Referring to Patriarch Bartholomew as “this great man of the church of God,” Pope Benedict also praises “his love for creation and his advocacy that it be dealt with in accordance with this love, in matters big and small.”

So much for Benedict the "Traditionalist". He's just another non-Catholic "Ecumenist".
