Lightning Strikes Dome of St. Peter’s Basilica on Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary

Another “bolt from out of the blue” hits St. Peter’s on a Catholic feast celebrating a humble prayer and an historic battle!

VATICAN CITY — Rome shook this morning as a massive lightning bolt hit the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica. The strike came on the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, a celebration with origins not only in a humble prayer, but also in an historic battle.

The bolt hit the dome of St. Peter’s at approximately 9:20 am, as a strong rainstorm passed through Rome. Vatican police confirmed the strike. No damage was reported.

Those close to the Vatican, from Swiss guards to local shop owners, felt the shock.

“I was in the shower and heard what sounded like a loud thunder clap which lasted a few seconds and seemed to shake everything. I knew it was storming but it sounded more like an earthquake than a thunderstorm,” a resident close to St. Peter’s told Aleteia.

A local Italian coffee-bar owner added: “Everything shook. I could feel it in my lungs. It was as though the air was suspended for a moment.”

This morning’s strike recalls the “bolt from out of the blue” that hit St. Peter’s on February 11, 2013 — the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes — just hours after Pope Benedict XVI shocked the Vatican with his announcement to resign the papal office.

Today’s strike also comes on a Marian feast: Our Lady of the Rosary.

Originally called Our Lady of Victory, the feast was instituted by Pope St. Pius V to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary for the Christian victory over the Turks at the Battle of Lepanto.

During todays homily my parish priest (from Malta) spoke quite a bit about how the little island of Malta was being invaded from the sea by the Muslims.

The Laltese disguised broom sticks to look like soldiers at the parapets. A the fleet of Muslim came closer to the shore the saw a brilliantly shining lady in front of them. They retreated leaving the island alone.

Or it means the opposite. It was about 9 AM in Rome on October 7, 1571 when Don Juan of Austria met the Turks in battle at Lepanto. Simultaneously, Pope Pius V, not knowing a battle was taking place at the same time, rose from a meeting with Cardinals to declare: " “A truce to our business; our great task at present is to thank God for the victory which He has just given the Christian army.”

Bishop Johan Bonny of Antwerp, Belgium, suggested that homosexual couples, divorced and remarried Catholics, and cohabiting pairs should be given some sort of Church blessing as part of a “diversity of rituals” that would recognize the “exclusiveness and stability” of their unions.

Rome shook this morning as a massive lightning bolt hit the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica.

Coincidence?

I agree. It was a victory.

So why change the name of the Feast Day?

“The strike came on the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary”

No such CREATURE!!! pagan and man made please read the book of Exodus and Leviticus for the proper perpetual feasts of the Lord.

Feast of Trumpets (Rosh Hashanah) and Day of Atonement are the only feasts authorized of our Lord at this time.

The Holy Spirit is screaming at you that this is wrong and not biblical!
