Could Russia Ban Abortions?
Russian Insider ^ | 10/2/16 | Oleg Yegorov

The Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church, the Head Mufti of Russia and the Children's Ombudswoman support the removal of abortions from Russia’s mandatory health insurance, but officials and doctors say that a ban will only move the procedure underground

On Sept. 27, Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill signed "The citizen's petition for banning abortion." Promoted by conservative Orthodox activists, the petition supports the position that life begins at conception and reads in part:

"We, citizens of the Russian Federation, speak in favor of terminating the practice of legally killing infants before birth."

The move by the patriarch has once again brought the controversial topic of abortion to the fore in Russian society.

It would be hard to call the patriarch’s support of the petition unexpected. Like many branches of Christianity, including the Catholic Church, the Orthodox Church considers abortion murder.

In his Twitter account, journalist Ivan Davydov responded (in Russian) ironically to bloggers who were surprised or outraged by Kirill's words:

"Judging by the public's reaction, it seems that many expected the patriarch to speak in favor of a sexual revolution. He was really disappointing."

A ban, but not a ban

Immediately after the patriarch’s signature on the petition was announced, his press secretary, Alexander Volkov, made a statement tempering the move.

"This petition is not about a ban, but about removing abortions from the mandatory health insurance system," Volkov said, adding that Kirill “signed the petition in order to attract society's attention to the issue."

I pray to God they do. Maybe God will see the repentance in their hearts, and heal their nation. Wish He’d heal ours, but then, we’d have to repent first.

Putinist Russia will never ban baby killing. IIRC, they currently have one of the highest per capita abortion rates in the world.

Who ever would have thought we’d see the day where Russia was more godly than the USA?

LOL.

He'll never restore or replace several thousand churches, either, right?

There will never again be long waiting lines for multiple Masses on Christmas and Easter, either, right?

But in keeping with legal precedents that go all the way back to the Roman Empire he restored or replaced property earlier governments had unjustly taken over or destroyed and most churches are packed at every Mass.

All the BS about Constantine pouring money on Christians is nothing but the same thing, upholding Roman Law which stated that if it's found the government unjustly destroyed or seized property the property had to be returned, in as near to it's original state as possible, when the crime is recognized.

Please, tell us more, like how wonderful Ukraine is since Nuland, Soros, and the Clintons, saved them by instigating a coup against the legal government.

Keep on blowin' Obama's horn, you're not fooling anyone with your pretense of supporting the US while going along with every neocon democrat scam that comes down the pike.

Some of us believe Christ can work miracles while others just spew propaganda in support of anti-Christ, anti-Christian, Obama. I, for one, know Christ can raise us from the dead and Scripture says that when a Nation turns to Him He will bless them and help them.

That's what's happening now in Russia and Hungary, with several other European countries starting to turn back to Christ which will raise them up as well.

Since you love the anti-Christ course the US is on it's no wonder you can't see the miracles taking place.

I read a book in the late 70s by an American journalist that the average Russian woman had 6 abortions...

They certain DID have one of the highest abortion rates in the world. But it’s fallen more than 80%. Still too high (moderately above U.S. levels, even), but no way near levels of communist nations.

Add the two or three early term miscarriages that go largely unnoticed but which are caused by the "contraceptives" most women in the US use and which are in reality abortions, and we're probably ahead of Russia in per capita abortions these days.

Abortions done by invasive means represent one third or fewer of the total number of infants conceived then aborted.

The science is out there to back that up if anyone cares to look for it, but no one cares. Very early term abortions are just something people accept the same way Carthaginians accepted sacrificing one of their children to Moloch in return for economic blessings.
