But that's precisely the point --- the intriguing detail here. What is the NYT doing, publishing the opinion of First Things editor Matthew Schmitz? Schmitz --- who suggests that Pope Francis has taken off in a wrong dirction, and gis pontificate is a failure --- is not by any means a NYT liberal! Here's some of his work:
