Corrupt church institution, with a notorious reputation for tolerating and sheltering homosexual pedophiles who love to “groom” fresh young meat parishioners, naturally had turned so many seminaries into bath houses.
Here’s a solution to counter justified criticism -
RCC needs revival, and casting off its awful history of overbearing irrational control and cruelty.
The Pope, gross ill-gotten riches and corrupt hierarchy has got to all go in order to align with Jesus’s teaching and godly governance.
RCC could rightly rebrand with pride accentuating it’s really good missions (anti-abortion, hospitals, godly schools), cast off incongruent ungodly practices (see above), and be a bright blameless godly force, as Jesus and god instructs.

The men receiving the Sacrament of Holy Orders are on three levels:
Deacon
Priest
Bishop
Women partake in final vows, but it is not the sacrament of Holy Orders. Same for brothers. Some monks are ordained priests, however.
The Episcopal Church USA, yes. The Anglican Church worldwide is against ordination of homosexual priests.
The practice of priestly celibacy is not, in fact, a doctrine of the Catholic Church. It is a discipline. Doctrine cannot and will not change. Discipline, on the other hand, can be changed.
I say let them serve while married. Having a supportive partner will help stabilize that priest.
I would guess it’s more difficult to remain chaste in today’s world than it was hundreds of years ago. The internet has made the world a much smaller,less naive place.

All you have to do is look at who is always most against the discipline. It’s always the liberals who hate it the most, invariably. There’s not one liberal out there who thinks it is valuable and thinks it should continue. They all seem to hate it and think it should be ended.

Yes, there were some bishops and priests that sheltered pedophiles. They will get their reward when they stand before the Lord.
The Catholic Church is not going anywhere. Only something that is being protected by the Lord God Almighty could last as long as the Catholic Church has. We are talking about the church that the Lord Jesus Christ personally established. The Holy Spirit protects it. Catholicism is here to stay until the Second Coming.
So be it, if they are true believers with a drive to help people.
Semantics. In this case a discipline with no biblical basis for its application is used to disqualify qualified candidates.

Which is ridiculous. Its not even just a particular sect or order discipline. It is across the board everywhere. It has severely damaged the Roman Catholic church by demanding this of all applicants.

Practicing Catholics have invested a lot of spiritual and emotional capital to get where they are.

The RCC is dying in Europe, Canada. Dioceses are selling off churches in droves, which in turn become mosques.
I’ve seen it personally in Quebec, and Paris.

A report released Tuesday by the Pew Forum finds that the total number of Catholics in the United States dropped by 3 million since 2007, now comprising about 20 percent - or one-fifth - of the total population.
And perhaps more troubling for the church, for every one Catholic convert, more than six Catholics leave the church. Taken a step further, Catholicism loses more members than it gains at a higher rate than any other denomination, with nearly 13 percent of all Americans describing themselves as “former Catholics.”

We are close to several priests and see how all-consuming the life is, total devotion to the service of the people of God. They barely have time for decent rest let alone a family life. They hang out with us and other friends for support. Last week one friend had a long day then came a medical emergency so off to the hospital, the lady forgot something she needed, would he go to her house and get it, yes, of course, other people see a priest at the hospital, they ask him to come and pray with their friend/family member, go home, oh wait, the lady is being discharged at 3 am, could you come get her, of course. He maybe had two hours of sleep, maybe, before he had to get up and do it again. A wife and children would always be second place. All of my priest friends are vowed to serve the people and they do 24/7.

Why do you think every liberal group out there is against the Catholics on this? Doesn’t that give you at least some pause about it? That some conservative Christian think the Catholic discipline is valuable, and should continue vs. some Christian conservatives that think it isn’t valuable and should end + every single liberal individual and group that also invariably believes that too?
Every person that accepts abortion, ‘gay marriage’ and female clergy invariably agrees with doing away with Catholic discipline of celibacy in the latin rite. Try to find one that doesn’t. That there is no connection about this preference is absurd.
